A sad, dark time in the world of Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum. Is Sharjeena’s anger temporary? Is Mustafa really the only one to be blamed for the loss of their child, her parents also didn’t receive her phone call earlier. What about Rubab’s makafat-e-amal?
A Sad Ending?
It is with a heavy heart that we watch Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum nowadays with a few questions on our mind, most important being, that is there even a slight possibility that Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum might have a sad ending?
Though Sharjeena is angry at Mustafa, all that she had been suppressing and keeping inside her has now surfaced with the loss of the baby. But we ask, if Mustafa alone can be blamed for what has happened? What about her parents, who also didn’t recieve her phone call, who also haven’t been keeping a tab on her, because if they did, they would have known about her blood pressure issue. Sharjeena herself as well. It is one thing to be sad about not getting love and attention from your husband, but you cannot compromise your own and your baby’s health and life over this. So why is Mustafa alone getting the silent treatment?
The Scenes That Stood Out
A big shout out to the director and producers for impacting our emotions through sound effects; when Sharjeena trips, you can hear the heartbeat of the baby which then fades away, giving space to silence. There is a slight movement of her hand and that’s all. Despite knowing that this might have led to the loss of her baby, we hoped against hope that maybe, she and the baby have just fainted….But alas no.
Relationship Pains
Well, Sharjeena has been writing to Mustafa. All the post-it notes were messages from her; a cry for help, and his attention, that he never read. The drama showed beautifully that as life takes over and the initial euphoria dies down, couples get so caught up in their own challenges and lives that instead of dealing with them together, they start fighting their battles alone. There is no communication, no ehsaas and your partner fades into the background. Though they are still important, but they end up questioning their worth in the other’s life. Mustafa was so engulfed by his new objectives that he never saw what was right in front of him. Again, symbolizing how we often miss the silent screams of people around us because we are caught up in our own battles.
Sharjeena’s Mother Wins Hearts
While the father being true to himself, again blamed Mustafa for everything, we absolutely loved the mother; the scene where she comforts Sharjeena makes you all teary-eyed. She wins your heart when she tries to tell Sharjeena to help accept the situation and not blame Mustafa, when she tries to bring her attention to the fact that Mustafa never left her side, how he loves her so much. Her words still echo in Sharjeena’s mind later.
Rubab & Adeel: The Aftermath
Adeel got what he deserved, now in jail with mosquitoes and people he would not even bother looking at. How can Rubab’s friend have any sympathy for Natasha and expect the same from Rubab? But Rubab unveiling the real face of Adeel and his betrayal; is it enough makafat-e-amal for what she did? She seems okay with whatever has happened, has she paid a price already? Well, her sadness or her regret over choosing Adeel should have been shown, because as of now it seems like she is completely okay.
Finally, Mustafa’s mother called him. It was such a heartbreaking moment when Mustafa meets his father. The way his mother gives him her necklace and begs him to sell it to pay for the hospital expenses was so sad. The parents do not know what has happened between Mustafa and Sharjeena. The drama must be applauded for successfully showcasing a relatable portrayal of a relationship, pressures facing men and the reality of parenthood in old age.
