Will Sharjeena and Mustafa’s baby be saved? If not, will she be able to forgive, and will their love survive? When will we finally get to see the downfall of Adeel? Can the drama risk giving a more true-to-life ending with Sharjeena leaving Mustafa, or will audiences win, and we will get a happy ending after all. It is safe to say that along with so many of our everyday life dukhs, now the dukh of what will happen to Sharjeena and Mustafa has become a part of our weekly worry list.
Creators Take A Bow
A big shout out to the production team for employing sound variation to evoke an atmosphere and feel that culminated into a powerful viewing experience throughout the episode. The echoes of Sharjeena howling portrayed her immense emotion, and we were devastated to feel her excruciating pain; the background score and lyrics, as Mustafa almost touched her forehead; the background music when Mustafa is signing the new deal… For a change, the producers, director and sound engineer utilized sounds to the fullest to play with audiences’ emotions.
Team Mustafa vs Team Sharjeena
The drama has also divided audiences: Team Mustafa and Team Sharjeena. The narrative is perhaps, the most apt representation of what happens between a couple when initial euphoria dies, and life’s realities hit hard. Sharjeena’s patience, silent treatment, unwavering support… and Mustafa’s single-minded focus on earning money, with the justification that he is doing this for Sharjeena and the baby, both have taken a toll on their relationship. There is a big communication gap between them; Mustafa has not even tried to tell her once, that he values the unborn child.
Mustafa represents the thought process and challenges of young men and young fathers, where they are doing so much for their families but fail to communicate this care and effort verbally, and it comes across as cold, careless, or merely, a pure drive to earn more money, when deep down, Mustafa cares for his unborn child. Pregnancy not only affects and changes women, but a man also goes through changes when he becomes a father.
Sharjeena’s silent treatment is questionable. Why couldn’t she talk to him and explain she needs him to take care of her. All that she was thinking within herself, why couldn’t she make him sit and say all that to him? Sharjeena is a reminder for all women to be done with “silent treatment” and be more communicative.
Just like we are calling out Mustafa that till when will men use work pressures and job challenges for their aloofness, cold behavior or lack of understanding of women’s emotions, we are also calling out Sharjeena, that till when will women keep using silent treatment under the name of being patient and supportive and keep letting a long list of complaints build up inside them. It is actually toxic and becomes a pressure building tactic.
Why didn’t Sharjeena call her mother or father?
That is a very big question, and it compromises the whole Sharjeena cause. Why couldn’t Sharjeena’s sister check on her if her mother was unable to walk up the stairs? We understand that Sharjeena kept her situation to herself to not further destroy Mustafa’s image in front of her parents, but now when she was feeling sick and needed someone, she should have called her parents to help her. She already knows Mustafa is busy at work and often doesn’t pick up her phone, can she really hold his not responding to her call against him this time?
Rubab’s Revenge
We were wondering about the absence of Natasha, that will we not see her anymore? But Farhat Ishtiaq proves she is a master storyteller. Rubab not only finds out about the affair but also gets proof. Though Adeel’s sixth sense told him that something is not right, but his over confidence blinded him. He should have known that blocking his cards was a flushing danger signal and something far drastic was happening. But great plan Rubab, you will expose him before everyone- a lesson for all such men out there to dare not do this. The way Rubab is being intelligent rather than emotional in taking revenge makes the drama so much more interesting.
The Tragedy of it All
Such a sad fact that just when Mustafa is finally getting what he wants, he is on the verge of losing the most beloved person in his life…
But we ask, now that Mustafa has finally made it through, what would Sharjeena have done, if she hadn’t gone to the hospital, and things would have been how they are right now between them? Would she have forgotten and forgiven everything? Can she be sure that when another challenging phase in life comes, the same thing won’t happen?
The beauty of flawed characters who reflect us. Each character in Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum is believable, the story is so relatable. It mirrors the relationship between two people perfectly, what happens to parents in old age and how the pressure of living a good life takes a toll on all of us. Because at the end of the day, both Mustafa and Adeel are running after money and a better lifestyle.
