Did Mustafa sadden all of us along with Sharjeena? Are we going to ignore his anger and call his red flags “halaat ka pressure” simply because we adore him in Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum? Is it easy to accept the shades of black in the people you love?

The thing about Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum is that it constantly keeps us engaged and invested in the story, be it us loving the romance, appreciating the companionship goals they are both setting, or the story making us sad as we note Mustafa’s rude and questionable behavior towards Sharjeena.
Mustafa’s Questionable Behaviour
Did Sharjeena deserve to be treated like that? Not just having to face Mustafa’s aggressive behavior, unsure of which direction it will go in, but worrying about his whereabouts and then to be completely cut off from his grieving state. If that was not enough, Mustafa had to throw a tantrum at the food being sent by Sharjeena’s mother. We will tackle his disappointment and lack of response on the pregnancy news soon.
The food was sent because Sharjeena’s mother knew she’s expecting and the fact that she sent chaat shows she sent it purely because she wanted to take care of her in this condition and knew she might want to eat stuff like this during the initial days of pregnancy. Even if we give the benefit of doubt to Mustafa for not liking it and acknowledging that his ego was hurt, he could have at least spoken to Sharjeena gently.
Is Mustafa love-bombing Sharjeena?
He gets angry, even if not directly at her, but he ignores her, expresses his disappointment on certain things, but then becomes okay and showers her with care and affection. Is it really fair to her? Is it really okay that Sharjeena keeps absorbing his erratic behavior with patience and silence and doesn’t react aggressively; from getting upset about the pregnancy to later preparing milkshakes for her.
Mustafa bhai what did you think, that if you will not be careful or use family panning methods, she will not get pregnant? Mustafa’s surprise at the pregnancy news was funny and surprising for us as well. The entire situation makes us feel that Mustafa is perhaps also making a similar mistake like his parents – to show less love or no love to a child for reasons that he or she is not responsible for, is not right in any way. This is evident in his lack of concern for his unborn child.
Adeel’s New Distraction and Trap?
Natasha ka kya hoga? Adeel has found a new distraction. Though he has no idea that it is a trap. The drama portrays the mindset that a man can completely lose his logic and caution when he becomes enamored by someone due to a physical temptation or to counteract boredom. He is not even careful that people in the office might find it strange, with all the special attention he is giving to the new girl.
The first episode this week showed us the betrayal Mustafa faced at work for his game Hurricane. It was sad to see that happen, especially when we had been part of his journey as he was developing the game. Even we wanted to take revenge from Joseph. But then the next episode showed the twist that made us all happy with excitement and jubilation – that a game developer has landed in Mustafa’s life like a miracle. In a way, the drama also reaffirms your belief that Allah does not leave you alone when you work hard and when someone is unjust to you.
Complex Relationships
In a relationship, especially when two people really love each other, it is very painful to be shut out of a loved one’s life and inner thoughts, to not be part of his success or his grief, especially grief. We all felt Sharjeena’s pain and cried with her when Mustafa refused to talk to her. What is happening between Sharjeena and Mustafa is probably what we see around us in every other home, probably 60% to 70% of the time – the reality of South Asian couples or reality of being a South Asian man – becoming quiet, sad, unresponsive or detached because of work stress or life pressures and challenges.
Should Sharjeena be so accommodating and patient with Mustafa? Is this attitude strengthening the age-old belief that patience will get you everywhere, bear all the injustices or inappropriate behavior like a martyr and things will work out in the longer run? Or is Sharjeena teaching girls how they should deal with a situation calmly? Is Mustafa’s junoon really about giving a better life to Sharjeena or is it about his own ego, to prove to everyone, to Sharjeena’s parents, that he is not a loser?
