Mustafa’s silent yet strong resolve to give everything to Sharjeena, to earn her respect, his pain as he declares that Shajeena is the only relation he has now… Sharjeena’s unwavering support and smile, her refusal to eat lunch simply because Mustafa would have not had lunch too…oh dear heart, how do we stop ourselves from falling madly in love with these two.
True Love
A big shout out to writer Farhat Ishtiaq for reminding us of what a true relationship and what true support means, reminding us of so many things that many of us have forgotten in today’s world. The way Sharjeena is with Mustafa, not taunting him or getting angry at him even once. In fact, she always tries to lighten the mood, she is always telling him that “we will manage”. Maybe this is how we all need to be in our relationships. Good times are easy to spend together, it is the difficult times which test the strength of a person and also the strength of a relationship. The small things, the details in the challenges, like sleeping on the floor without a mattress, trying to bargain on crockery from Mangal bazaar, then buying only 5 plates, eating daal chawal without salad or achaar… such lovely and heart-warming moments, nothing melodramatic yet so relatable, so impactful.
What really stands out is how beautifully the relationship and the romance between the two is shown. Their bond evokes warmth, and there is no awkwardness that you might feel as a viewer. The way they look at each other carries so much passion and romance yet respect, and despite their interactions, their expressions, and the gaze between them, their scenes lack even the slightest shade of lust, they are powerful and impactful enough to make your heart go “kuch kuch hota hai”… to make one want to have what they both have.
Sharjeena’s constant support and her repetitive chant that “main tumhain chhor ker nahin jaaon gi”, “hum ker len ga na mil ker” are admirable emotions and remind you what true support really looks like. Yet you can see how clearly and deeply she feels the pain Mustafa is going through, she understands and not even for a second, does she undermine his concerns or his complaints.
Mustafa’s Inner Struggle
Mustafa’s sadness doesn’t just emerge from being in this situation, but we also see human psychology at play. Sharjeena was the one who actually thought him worthy of helping her, who trusted him and always encouraged him, and now he is not able to take care of that one person who actually believed in him. That must be another level of challenge to deal with, demanding another level of mental strength to not let this completely destroy one emotionally.
Adeel & Natasha’s Dilemmas
Adeel and Natasha on the other hand, are busy and happy with each other. They are both stuck in unhappy marriages, which don’t fall in place with their mental expectations, so they are attracted towards each other but what is the guarantee that what they have is even for real. Adeel’s full-blown efforts to convince his mother against Mustafa and take Rubab’s side despite having an inkling about the truth was disappointing. Mustafa’s constant demotivating chat tested one’s patience a bit, but then he made it up by making food for Sharjeena…:). Because as Sharjeena mentioned, they are both working still, so all is not lost.
