Has Sunn Mere Dil Forgotten It’s 2024 Going Into 2025?
The Curious Case Of Sunn Mere Dil: We can discount the drama as it teleports us into a parallel world of make-believe drama – The perfect hero, Bilal Abdullah, the imperfect anti hero, Ammar and the ‘other women’ – Hamsha and Dania. But how do we explain Sadaf? She seems to have not understood the assignment, or rather, transformed her character from strong, independent woman to suffering, accepting wife?
Sunn Mere Dil is turning out to be quite a challenge for Pakistani drama viewers. On one hand, we have an onscreen pair that have the potential to weave magic together – Maya Ali and Wahaj Ali. We also have Usama Khan, Hira Mani and Amar Khan who are a force to be reckoned with in talent, skill and performance. And then we have the versatile Saba Hamid, who knows how to play it every time.
Add to this, the endearing sibling bond between Sadaf and Zaviyar and you’ve got yourself a story. Right?
Wrong.
There’s lots going on in Sunn Mere Dil and it’s not exactly what audiences expected.
Here’s what’s making us ask questions:
Dear Ammar, can you please decide what you want and who you want?
Dania or Sadaf?
Can you please stop justifying your cheating as a result of Dania’s suicide threats?
Story from another era?
Ammar staying late till 11pm at Dania’s without a phone call to Sadaf is completely okay, but Sadaf still has to prove her loyalty to you by staying hungry till you come back home?
(Good one)
And since she ate dinner without you, you are justified to drink and stay back even later at Dania’s? In fact, we can’t really wrap our head around the perpetual drinking agenda that seems to dominate every episode of Sunn Mere Dil. Please drop us a comment if you’ve unlocked the answer to this one.
What’s wrong with Sadaf and her mother?
Mother is saying: be scared of the girl who is after your husband, completely letting the husband off the hook. Is this the same mother who handed out sane advice to Sadaf earlier, about not to let Ammar emotionally blackmail her?
She also advises Sadaf not to reveal the reason for the fight to a mother or a friend? She doesn’t even bother to find out what is disturbing her strong and courageous daughter. This is a character flip we weren’t expecting, and rightfully disappointed with.
Furthermore, the daughter is willing to put up with her husband staying at Dania’s till late into the night and not even informing her?
Is it really 2024; that we have to suffer watching such regressive female character behaviour…
Hamsha and Dania – two sad and desperate women
These two can’t accept that love can’t be forced. If Ammar cannot value Sadaf today, he will for sure never respect or value Dania. As for Bilal Abdullah, he is busy mourning his lost love, we doubt he can notice Hamsha’s broken heart at all.
The only saving grace in the latest episodes was Zaviyar and Sadaf’s endearing bond and also, Bilal Abdullah insisting that Sadaf deserves more exposure at work since she is, for sure, more qualified and competent than Ammar. One wonders what took him so long to discover that? Or has he been keeping notes on Ammar’s activities and plans to step in?
Here’s hoping the drama can reverse the downward spiral and show Sadaf rising up, manifesting the courage we once saw in her. Here’s hoping Bilal Abdullah steps in to save the day but, will he continue to be the perfect hero in a sea of imperfect characters?
Script writing demands fully fleshed out characters, relatable, human and layered. Can our hero and heroine deliver the same or at the end of the day, will it be a perfect hero meets an imperfect heroine in Sunn Mere Dil?
Audiences deserve more in a Pakistani drama landscape that is handing out stories that resonate with viewers. Will Sunn Mere Dil turn the tables on itself or continue to pull the same story line?

I think the writer needs an updation of time line, he is confused.
He did the same thing with Humayun Sayeed’s gentleman completely flop writer!
He often gets confused with the characters make them do weird things which is not relatable by the audience.
Then we start asking WHAT? Really?
