Great chemistry and powerful performances from Tazeen Hussain and Yumna Zaidi. Nashwa has no idea that Bakhtiyar has planned her marriage with Ammar. The question is, how will he get Nashwa to agree to this marriage?
Kudos to the entire team for highlighting and normalizing daughters encouraging a second marriage for their single mother. The best part was, that for Nashwa it was the most obvious step, and she couldn’t comprehend why something so rational, almost inevitable, had not happened till now. We also appreciate how the narrative brought both religious and cultural aspects into the conversation for delivering a convincing viewpoint.
The only thing that could have been improved was Nashwa’s dialogue to her mother: “Aap bewa ho kar baith gayeen”? Well, becoming a widow was not part of her plan or her decision. This sentence was a bit insensitive and could have been avoided.
Bisma’s Fighting Spirit?
Despite Nashwa being so courageous, Bisma is not drawing strength from her daughter and working actively to improve her situation. On the contrary, she is quite resigned to her destiny and current position in her in laws’ home. With Nashwa now having graduated, they can consider living on their own. But instead, Bisma is focused on getting Nashwa married.
Nashwa’s response was heartwarming, she understands what her mother has gone through and the dangers she faces. Nashwa’s marriage will mean leaving Bisma alone at the mercy of Bakhtiyar which she will never do.
Nashwa finally spoke up for Maheen
Burhan’s question: ‘If there is any proof that Maheen is telling the truth, and a possible revenge relationship’ was really unprofessional and inappropriate. A lawyer would consult documents before casually throwing that question. The medical report is present to prove it was a gang rape, the physical condition of Maheen again is proof that she had been sexually assaulted, and last point to consider is how she was found on the roadside, almost taken for dead.
Even if Burhan was attempting to mentor his team of young lawyers, perhaps he should have walked them through the police report to teach them how to make their case stronger. But if his intention was really to question Maheen’s allegation, then as an experienced lawyer, he should have consulted medical records as this was a case where the attending doctor was very clear on the verdict.
Could it be that Ammar is in the city and not in Lahore? The story gets more intriguing, and we wait to see how it unfolds. Will Ammar get away or get caught eventually.
What Happens Next?
Asad and Beenish’s marriage might be in jeopardy as Asad’s mother is becoming suspicious about the calm response from Ammar’s family over this accusation.
All conversations about Maheen’s case are subdued right now since social media has not caught on to it yet. The minute news spreads, things will change.
How cunningly the daadi manipulates everything when Asad’s parents agree to the wedding date, showing us her mindset that Bisma being a widow, must not touch anything that is a good omen. Her regressive thinking is highlighted here; believing a widow is a bad omen so she must be prevented from touching the sweets. Also, she always portrays a devoted wife version of Bisma to make sure no one thinks about marrying her.
Bakhtiar’s Game Plan
Bakhtiyar’s police friend, despite agreeing to his demand to save Ammar, knows deep down that there might be a possibility of Ammar being involved in the crime, and tries to let the investigation continue. The drama shows how the elite hide the misconduct or crimes of their family members – a true-to-life portrayal.
Bakhtiyar has already planned that Nashwa marry his son Ammar. But how will he convince Nashwa to do the same? Or will she agree so that she can stay close to her mom, in the same house? Qarz e Jaan is keeping audiences curious as to where the story goes next.
