Meri Tanhai: So Khizer has confessed his love to Mary (Mariam) while being engaged to Maleeha. But that’s not it, when his friend tries to make him realise that he is in the wrong, he puts the entire blame of his engagement with Maleeha on his parents.

Instead of taking a stand for his dream to go abroad with no strings attached, Khizer chose to compromise, using the engagement as a stepping stone to go abroad, and in turn, risking a girl’s life and emotions.
Mary and Maleeha’s Shock Reveals
Poor Mary, she has only discovered one truth so far; that her father is related to Khizer, soon she will be shocked with the news of Khizer’s engagement.
While back in Pakistan, it is poor Maleeha who is being fooled by Khizer, whose emotions and self respect are going to take a hit once she finds out the truth about Mary and Khizer.
Khizer’s Actions Deconstructed
Khizer represents the typical case of a man who falls for another woman, cheats on his fiancé or wife and then blames his actions on everything except himself.
Khizer’s present story also teaches parents not to force an engagement or marriage upon their children against their wishes, or when they are not ready for it. Gone are the days when you applied marriage as a condition on your children to agree to something they want in return. Marriage is a union between two human beings and must never be coerced, no matter how much the parents feels that the match is a compatible one. And likewise, (once we know more of Ali’s backstory), that once adult children have decided on marrying someone, to allow them to stick by it and respect their decision.
As a result, both Khizer and Ali will face the consequences of their actions, (Ali is already paying), regrettably also hurting the innocent people who are attached to them as well.
On another note, did Khizer’s parents get him engaged because they feared he would meet the same Fate as Ali? Fall in love with someone abroad and not marry a Pakistani girl? Tell us what you think.
Just like Khizer blamed the engagement and the commitment of the engagement on his parents, we would like to remind him that it was him sitting next to Maleeha and smiling at the engagement ceremony, and also it was him who had taken Maleeha to the beach and promised her that he will try to make things work.
It is also painfully true-to-life to see that the same man can be so caring and thoughtful with one woman and ruthlessly emotionless and selfish with another one at the same time. He chooses to ignore his sense of duty, responsibility, and basic moral values.
Exactly what Khizer is doing right now.
Ali’s Dilemma
So, it seems like Ali believes that his newly converted wife had left the religion, and his daughter is also now a non-Muslim – but the reality is different. Our curiosity increases with each episode to find out what transpired between them, that Ali returned to Pakistan without his wife and daughter.
What will Mary do now, after finding out that Khizer is related to Ali? Will her love for Khizer overcome this revelation?
