This divide underscores a broader conversation in pop culture about the balance between nostalgic storytelling and critical storytelling that moves with intention.

Case No. 9 First Look - Was It Worth the Wait? Absolutely!
Case No. 9

Case No. 9 has been on the radar for a while now and when the first look finally dropped, it felt like a big sigh of relief. Not just because it lived up to the hype, but because it promised something bigger than just another drama.

The story follows Saba Qamar, who plays a rape victim. Her life takes a devastating turn after being assaulted by the character played by Faysal Quraishi, a man with wealth, privilege, and power on his side. Instead of remaining silent, she chooses to fight back and demand justice. But as we know too well, this is not just a personal battle – it’s a fight against a society that asks women, “What did she wear? Why did she go there?” before questioning the man. A society that pushes victims into silence and lets the influential walk free.

9. EU Bans TPO In Gel Nail Polish Over Potential Health Risks

Gel Nails, Dangers

The European Union has enacted a ban – effective September 1, 2025 – on the use of the photoinitiator trimethylbenzoyl diphenylphosphine oxide (TPO) in gel nail polishes, citing its classification as a Category 1B carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic-to-reproduction (CMR) substance based largely on animal studies. The move requires salons and manufacturers across EU member states to remove TPO-containing products from the market and replace them with safer alternatives; while TPO remains unregulated in the U.S., the EU’s precautionary action may prompt global reformulations and impacts on supply chains. Experts advise consumers – especially those pregnant or trying to conceive – to opt for TPO-free formulations and take general safety measures like UV protection and ensuring proper application to minimize largely theoretical risks.

10. From Drama To Dinner – Biryani Dropped Bhea, And We Found Not One But Two Recipes!

Sindhi bhea, biryani, lotus roots
Sindhi Bhea

Sindhi bhea, whether cooked on dum or fried crisp, is one such gem — a reminder that food in our stories is never just background, it’s culture, comfort, and connection. Sindhi cuisine is full of earthy, wholesome dishes, and bhea (Kanwal or lotus root) is one of its most beloved.

This dish also made its way into Biryani, when Meeran and Nisa experimented with bhea for their business project, and Gul shared her own recipe twist. Since we saw it onscreen, we felt compelled to bring you the recipe and we’re happy to say, this comes straight from the kitchen diaries of a beloved Sindhi recipe book! There are two main ways to prepare bhea: the traditional dum-style masala bhea and the simpler, snack-like fried bhea. Both start with the same base, washing and boiling the lotus roots until they’re firm, like potatoes, but what you do next transforms the whole experience.

That’s all from us for this week – see you again with more stories next week!
