Meri Zindagi Hai Tu has left behind the age of cruising Cyber Trucks and rage automobile burning to now stalking one’s beloved, offering to change oneself wholeheartedly for that beloved and also, doing it all in signature Bilal Abbas Khan charm so that Ayra might eventually be swept away, just like our audiences (the drama garners viewership numbers that can be rightfully flexed by creators), who watch with baited breath – to see what Kamyar does next?

But hey, this is not your weekly review of what went down in the week’s Meri Zindagi Hai Tu but rather, a random revisit of what went through my mind as I watched the episodes unfold onscreen.
So here goes: 15 Unnecessary but Necessary Thoughts That Crossed My Mind When Watching Meri Zindagi Hai Tu
Read on…
1. When Ayra gave Kamyar a good thrashing on discovering his backdoor activities with Ishtiaq, I flitted between taking in the scene as comic entertainment and “what now, really, this too?” Which side were you on?
2. When she looked out the bedroom window and couldn’t spot him, then jumped at the sound of the ringing phone, did you, for a minute think she’s started missing his sight outside her home – could it be the first signs of love? Ugh, that sounds too predictable, right?
3. When Ayra told Kamyar in no unclear terms, that he instils fear in her, and she doesn’t ever want to feel that way, something clicked and my mind finally agreed with the moment – she’s spelling it out, despite her earlier coffee rendezvous, this is exactly what guys need to hear, and girls need to say to a… ahem, stalker?
4. Staying on the topic of stalking, while we are reminded, often enough that Kamyar is a troubled soul, and merely looking for love, can we, maybe have a disclaimer on the screen when he posts himself outside Ayra’s house: “Do not engage with your stalker, do so at your own risk, this is the fantasy world of Meri Zindagi Hai Tu, and do not try this in real life with or without adult supervision!”
Note to creators, hope this helps, happy to help you any time, thank me later.
5. When Kamyar lists down Ayra’s to do list for an eligible partner in life, perhaps anger management is a thing that needs to be on top of that list. I mean, who burns down a car, and beats up your brother, then courts you, correction, stalks you as a possible life partner?
6. But then, when Kamyar paused at her point of not taking his family relationships seriously, I felt Ayra needed some context, but ofc, picture abhi baqi hai, so lots more coming up on that front – Ayra will possibly see for herself, and soon, and is that going to make her heart melt for him? Aha, just throwing out some ‘clever’ predictions, and no, I haven’t read the script but…duh?
7. the same conversation, why would you wear your medical coat at the café? You could take it off and hang it by your chair, but we guess the creators want to offset the serious, no-nonsense Ayra with the ‘irresponsible’ no career Kamyar. Point taken.
8. When Falak gave in to Ishtiaq’s explanation about being bought in by Kamyar’s words – hello girl, a guy who doesn’t bother to verify facts with you and believes a total stranger, then breaks off his engagement by making his mother call yours, is a walking, talking red flag, but hey, that’s me reading the story line too deep, and obviously if mian biwi razi tau who am I to be the Qazi – play on and fall in love all over again – Cupid just lost on IQ points, but who’s counting – remember the ‘Love is blind, deaf and dumb’ bit, it happens.
9. On another note, dadi and Kamyar have a thing going. The way she tells him, you’re not really worthy of Ayra, and that, even if you try changing everything, there’s no guarantee you get the girl, is a lesson in humility that probably motivated Kamyar to list down the things Ayra wants in a guy or doesn’t want in him. But can the dadi-Ayra combo really move Kamyar to redemption? It’s a Pakistani drama folks, a girl’s job to fix her bloke before or after marriage, anything is possible, never say never!
10. And on that note, dadi asking Ayra why she slapped Kamyar and discovering he had burnt down her car met with a response: “give him 2 slaps next time, I’ll pull his ears…” Oh dear – the biggest eyeroll moment or living in the fantasy world of Meri Zindagi Hai Tu where your grandson burns down a girl’s car and then stalks her, and then falls in love with her is what dreams are made of. And, ahem, you lightly admonish the grandson with a smiling rebuke that says it all, or nothing!
11. Do you silently wish Ayra’s college friend trope, one with whom she bounces off her inner thoughts, one that every Pakistani drama heroine now has – take some pages from Nisa’s diary in Biryani, needs a makeover… the girl recounts how he burnt her car, bothered her, stalked her, but then obviously loves old people homes, gifted Ayra a new car, oh sweet redemption, and has a loving, caring side to him – some red flags, some green flags – oh well, the hero who covers his anger issues with grand presents and some rich boy generosity is all we need to make our hearts melt. What am I missing?
12. But then when Ayra pauses and has a think about the repercussions of her decision to meet dadi in the hospital and how Kamyar might read it wrong, but then the moment Kamyar appears in the frame and reads her thoughts was a cute moment that had us smiling. He gets it and yeah, we know that’s playing with the first feelings of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai – just Ayra doesn’t know it yet – minus the burning car and brother beating. I could have asked her to go ahead, but now, I have all this baggage from reading about real life stalkers and anger issues that separates the real men from the red flags and I can’t really tell her to go on – can you?
13. And more on the Ishtiaq story, why would Ishtiaq’s father not find it suspicious that a brand-new friend just surfaced on his son’s radar, one he’d never met before, then hand him a promotion letter from Dr. Irfan, his ex-samdhi, and then, proceed to digest the entire story with 100 % gullibility? Including taking his son for a double-dealing type who would use another girl (Falak) to push his own agenda. Yes, complicated much! The storytellers must have used all their creative powers to come up with that one – oh dear, the fantasy world of Meri Zindagi Hai Tu where anything is possible, yet again!
14. And not just that, but Ishtiaq’s father never really clarifying with Dr. Irfan about his promotion is a risk Ishtiaq and Kamyar are ready to take the hit for – desperate circumstances call for desperate solutions and yeah, this one certainly called for it. Not judging, just watching, with the rose-tinted glasses of a Pakistani drama audience- it’s not that deep folks, just sit back and sip chai and let Kamyar take the win.
15. And finally, whatever happens, Bilal Abbas Khan plays Kamyar with a charm that makes us want to believe in all things perfect. To the point where his car burning and brother thrashing days are already behind us and we’re looking forward to how the story pans out on a redemption arc – Ayra will surely be watching and so will we, in the, yes you guessed it right, fantasy world of Meri Zindagi Hai Tu where anything is possible.
P.S. Parting thoughts – Do not try this at home; you might not be as lucky as Ayra.
