Catch up on the performances that stood out as we rivisit Pakistani dramas in the week that was with 9 actors who served serious goals!

1. Nameer Khan as Faraz in Aik Aur Pakeezah
Nameer delivered a fabulous performance as a young guy who is trying to normalize his world after suffering a hue trauma. His calm, patient demeanour hides a whole lot more. Faraz’s pain, helplessness and vacant expressions say it all. When he spoke out in the dark, calling out that they (him and Pakeezah) don’t need to be afraid now, it showed his desperation to get over the trauma and get on with life, trying to convince himself that all will be well now.
2. Sehar Khan as Pakeezah in Aik Aur Pakeezah
Sehar Khan swayed from fearful, then hopeless, then courageous and even playful, showing just a hint of her past self, as she flitted between startling terror at a knock on the door, playfulness with her brother Akbar and mother Aliya, and also, deeply aware of her disregard for men like Yaseen. This was a girl whose life had turned over on its head overnight, and every expression Sehar threw us, including her body language, brought it all together for Pakeezah – a phenomenal performance!
3. NoorulHassan as Aslam in Aik Aur Pakeezah
Noorulhassan Sahab as Aslam had us sitting on the edge of our seat as he relived the trauma of the past few months with Saman. In one scene, he delivered affection, sadness, disappointment and a heartwrenching helplessness from a father whose heart was broken into a thousand pieces – his averted gaze echoed embarassment as he couldn’t look Saman in the eye, and his character gained immense sympathy even as we knew he had, in fact, turned Pakeezah out of his house to battle it out all alone. A moving performance.
4. Amna Ilyas as Saman in Aik Aur Pakeezah
Amna Ilyas as Saman strikes the right balance between sensitive and rage as she asks Aslam about Pakeezah. She is desperate to find her yet knows she cannot pressurize Aslam too much. There is a subtlety in Amna’s expressions throughout her tone, a slight shift in expression says it all. Amna makes sure not to overplay her character. It is a pleasure to watch her onscreen and we look forward to more from Saman in coming episodes.
5. Umer Darr as Akbar in Aik Aur Pakeezah
Umer Darr plays it all heart as Akbar. The brother who fights an inner rage, sense of shame, embarassment, and yet deep affection for his sister. Akbar’s quiet expressions, reconciliation with the traumatic circumstances and role as the eldest in the family, the sense of responsibility, a heavy burden to carry, all come together onscreen beautfiully. There is a storm of emotions raging inside Akbar which he seems to have restrained, and we Umer is doing a splendid job at portraying all the complex emotions that Akbar is experiencing.
6. Saba Qamar as Jeeji in Muamma
Saba Qamar has aced the character so much, that it seems jeeji was written especially for her. From her facial expressions that shift instantly, body language that flips from confident, assertive, to startled or even a bit terrified (when visitng Sarmad in jail), one is in awe of how well Saba has mastered the class act that is Jeeji!
7. Hareem Farooq as sanam in Sharpasand
Hareem Farooq is a burst of energy onscreen. As Sanam, she delivers great onscreen chemistry with Affan as Fida. Her anger when waving the pair of scissors brought a smile to our face and subsequently, her conversation with Fida about staying back because he wasn’t well, felt so natural and relatable, almost as if she was speaking extempore. Well done Hareem, Sanam is a fan favourite due to your all heart performance.
8. Affan Waheed as Fida in SharPasand
Affan as Fida hands out pure husband goals (when he’s not brainwashed by Farasat of course). But Affan’s portrayal of the husband who genuinely cares for his wife, but often reverts to being gullible maps a relatable portrayal of some men in our society. The onscreen chemistry Affan Waheed shares with Hareem Farooq makes every scene relatable and natural.
9. Hira Mani as Shazmeen in SharPasand
Hira Mani’s portrayal of Shazmeen leaves nothing out. She is independent with a great sense of self respect. Yet one also sees the woman who feels lonely and wishes for a fulfilling companionship, but only on terms she’s willing to accept. Shazmeen is sending out strong girl goals, her upright nature and soft heart that have endeared audiences to the chracter. Well done Hira, it is always a pleasure to watch you onscreen!
