Pakistani dramas are slowly but surely beginning to explore themes that feel closer to real life – the kind of conversations that usually happen behind closed doors. The upcoming drama starring Sabeena Farooq and Shahzad Sheikh seems ready to do exactly that.

7th Sky Entertainment, after delivering quality content one project after another, is bringing yet another story to life – one that might feel a little too close to reality. The drama (whose title is still undisclosed), is written by Rukhsana Nigar and directed by Syed Ahmad Kamran. It stars Sabeena Farooq, Shahzad Sheikh, Samina Ahmed, Sunita Marshall, Sohail Sameer, Azfar Rehman and more. The drama is presented by GEO and 7th Sky Entertainment, and is produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi under the banner of 7th Sky Entertainment.
From the looks of it, the drama dives into a subject our society has long struggled with: the stigma around women remarrying, especially widows who already have children.
At the center of the story is Dua, played by Sabeena Farooq. Dua is not your typical dramatic heroine surrounded by tragedy. She’s full of life, dreams, and optimism. She finds joy in the smallest moments and truly believes that life can still be shaped by determination and hope.
But what makes Dua’s character particularly interesting is how she sees the world around her. She doesn’t just want to build a future for herself – she also wants a better life for her mother (played by Sunita Marshall). Having witnessed her mother’s struggles after the loss of her husband, Dua wishes for her to remarry and find happiness again. In a society where widow remarriage still makes people whisper and judge, this wish itself becomes a bold stance.
And of course, the familiar pressure follows: “log kya kahenge?”
The drama appears to unpack how deeply that mindset is rooted in everyday life. Women are often watched, judged, and discussed as if their choices belong to the entire community. From the way they dress to how they live their lives, society rarely misses a chance to pass a comment.
Dua, however, represents a new generation.
She’s a YouTuber, someone who is comfortable expressing herself online and sharing her thoughts with the world. This modern detail adds an interesting layer to the story, showing how today’s youth are navigating tradition and modernity at the same time.
But the narrative doesn’t stop there.
The drama also sheds light on a darker reality – how women who appear alone or vulnerable are sometimes seen as easy targets. Instead of support, they often face unwanted attention, judgment, or people trying to take advantage of their situation. By weaving these themes together, the drama promises to present a story that feels both relevant and reflective of the society we live in.
With Sabeena Farooq leading the story and Shahzad Sheikh playing a key role, the drama seems poised to explore relationships, societal expectations, and the courage it takes to challenge long-held norms. Interestingly, we didn’t get to see much of Shahzad Sheikh in the first teaser – details about his character are being deliberately kept under wraps.
Sohail Sameer appears in a seemingly impactful character as always, feeding audiences’ curiosity to whether his is a negative or positive role.
A note on the production. The trailer serves its purpose. It offers a glimpse into the story – both dramatic and deeply emotional. The screen is clean and evokes a cinematic feel – a signature of 7th Sky projects. Many of the close-up shots zoom out to invite the viewer into the story, adding nuance and simultaneously building interest. The detailing in colours and frames adds to the storytelling.
We’re looking forward to the story, awaiting how the narrative develops, and whether it truly lives up to the hope built by the first teaser.
