The Karachi business community has been left in shock after the owner of popular dessert chain Wafflix, 25-year-old Mir Raza Ali, was found dead just a day after he was reported missing. What began as a disappearance has now turned into a murder investigation, with police examining the circumstances surrounding his alleged abduction and death.

Authorities are now reviewing evidence, including CCTV footage and digital records, as they attempt to piece together what happened during the young entrepreneur’s final hours.
According to the police report filed by his family, Mir Raza Ali left his home in PECHS Block 2 during the early hours of July 28 after telling his mother he would be back in around ten minutes. When he failed to return, his family tried contacting him, but his phone had already been switched off.
After searching for him without success, his father registered a kidnapping case against unidentified individuals at Ferozabad Police Station, prompting police to begin an investigation into his disappearance.
Body discovered in Gulistan-e-Jauhar
The search came to a tragic end when Ali’s body was recovered from bushes near a wedding hall in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 1.Police said the body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination. Initial observations indicated that it had been at the location for at least one to two days.Investigators also noted burn marks on parts of the body, which reportedly made identification difficult. His father was ultimately able to identify him through the clothes he was wearing.
What have police said?
While the post-mortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death, investigators say preliminary findings point towards foul play.According to police, there are indications that Mir Raza Ali may have been tortured before he was fatally shot. Officers also reported finding additional injuries on his body, though they have not released further details while the investigation remains ongoing.
Law enforcement officials are currently collecting CCTV footage from surrounding areas and examining other evidence, including records linked to his movements before he disappeared, in an effort to identify those responsible.
No arrests have been announced so far.
