One powerful statement from this week’s Dar-e-Nijaat that provokes thought.

Haya begins with the father, not the mother, always. If children—especially daughters—see the father making certain choices, their sense of right and wrong is also shaped by that. For Zaryab, Zamil’s actions seem acceptable to her because she’s seen her father do some of the same things.
Is this the dilemma of every girl in a relationship?
Has physical intimacy become such a common expectation now that if you don’t agree to it, you risk losing your love—and worse, being seen as regressive or old-fashioned for saying no?
Zamil is a lesson for every girl. A person driven by insecurities and complexes can rarely heal, and in that state, he may actually harm you just to compensate for his own shortcomings.
Zamil clearly felt insecure compared to Abu Bakar and overwhelmed by the other failures in his life.
To satisfy his own ego—and to convince himself that he owned Zaryab and that she was his despite all his flaws—he slept with her.
In his mind, he was proving his worth through that action.
Writer Umera Ahmed beautifully captures how girls try to hang on to love and will go to any extent for it, often ignoring the consequences.
The drama also makes you realize that trust and engagement are one thing, but sleeping with a na-mahram without nikah is an entirely separate matter.
No matter what, one should never commit a gunah simply by relying on the fragile promise of a future rishta.
