There’s something about newly announced Pakistani dramas that gets you excited and counting down the days until their arrival, especially when they’re long-awaited projects. And this time, the list is particularly exciting and definitely worth looking out for!

If you are a drama lover and keep yourself up-to-date with all the Pakistani dramas, then take a look at these three upcoming dramas.
Mitti De Baway Ft. Mahira Khan & Wahaj Ali
Starring Wahaj Ali and Mahira Khan together for the first time, Mitti De Baway has already managed to create quite a buzz with its gripping first trailer. Featuring Punjab’s rustic charm as its backdrop, the drama is expected to jump back and forth from the years 90s through to the 2000s, slowly unraveling a story filled with love, longing, honour, sacrifice, and many more loose ends. With Wahaj Ali as Bala looking tough, wild and unpredictable because of his rugged makeover and his Punjabi accent, and Mahira Khan as Bilquees appearing to be a woman with authority and influence in society because of her powerful presence, the teaser is successfully keeping the central mystery of their relationship hidden, showing us hints of their pasts and how eventually their paths would cross again, yet without telling us too much. Mitti De Baway isn’t just about romance; rather, it is developing into a much more intense story revolving around a woman’s struggle to find her place and keep her secrets, and honestly, the teaser has done its job in piqueing our interest and wanting to knowing more about the story.
Mitti De Baway is written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain. It is produced by Tehreem Chaudhary and will be airing on Green Entertainment.
Hey Fam Ft. Dua Zahra, Zarrar Khan & Zaviyar Naumaan
Starring Zaviyar Nauman Ejaz, Zarrar Khan and Duaa Zahra, Hey Fam instantly stands out for bringing a distinctly Gen Z flavour to Pakistani television. The teasers suggest a story rooted in the realities of young people today, where friendships, relationships, social media and the pressure of navigating life online all come together. Zaviyar appears to play Faizan Mustaqeem, a young news anchor whose story seems to take a more serious turn when he finds himself caught up in a controversial story, while Duaa Zahra as Seerat Ansari appears to be at the centre of a world shaped by relationships, social media and the consequences of one’s choices. What makes Hey Fam particularly interesting is that it doesn’t seem to be relying solely on trendy Gen Z slang or aesthetics; there are hints of bigger themes and real issues lurking beneath its youthful, colourful presentation. With its young cast, current storyline and a world that feels much closer to the way this generation actually lives, Hey Fam could be a refreshing change from the usual family dramas, provided it manages to make its Gen Z characters feel authentic rather than simply ticking the boxes of what we think Gen Z looks like.
The ensemble cast includes Naumaan Masood, Nadia Afgan, Faysal Quraishi, and more. More details, including the writer, director, and production, have not been revealed yet.
Hurmat Ft. Dananeer Mobeen & Shahveer Jafry
Starring Dananeer Mobeen and Shahveer Jafry together for the first time, Hurmat has already caught our attention with its intriguing first teaser. Dananeer plays the titular character, a young woman whose life is heavily restricted by her father, to the point that she is not even allowed to attend university or experience the world outside her home. The teaser gives us a glimpse of a girl yearning for freedom and trying to understand herself beyond the boundaries imposed on her. Written by Kashif Anwar and directed by Nadeem Siddiqui, the drama appears to be exploring themes of freedom, identity, self-discovery and the expectations placed on women, which makes Hurmat feel like more than just another family drama. The teaser may be brief, but there is enough here to make us curious about Hurmat’s journey and how far she will go to finally spread her wings.
