TV One is all set to launch Dil Na Umeed Tau Nahi – a Kashf Foundation narrative – and Wahaj Ali throws some light on the story behind the story!
I don’t unwind sometimes when I go home. I keep the character with me and I burn it only once the project finishes. Jimmy (Jamshed in DNUTN), despite his turbulent childhood, has tried and is doing a lot of good in society.
Wahaj Ali will be playing Jimmy in Dil Na Umeed Tai Nahi
Wahaj rose to fame after his incredible performance in the role of Shariq in Ehd-e-Wafa. His latest dramas include Ghissi Pitti Mohabbat with Wahaj as Riz outplaying the character with a swag that left many hearts swooning. He made us shed a tear or two in Bikhre Moti and now … he’s back with the lovely Yumna Zaidi in Dil Na Umeed Tau Nahi on TV One!
We interviewed Wahaj & talked about his upcoming drama and his roile as Jimmy (Jamshed):
It’s a beautiful story…The plot of the story is full of emotions and sensitivity. I don’t know if the concept is inspired by a real life story or not but things like that do happen in real life.
Talking about the characters Wahaj Ali says:
I have worked with extremely talented actors in this project. You’ll see amazing performances from Yumna Zaidi, Yasra Rizvi, Nauman Ijaz, Omair Rana, etc.

Wahaj Ali
Wahaj further spoke about the plot saying the story highlights social issues such as human trafficking. He elaborated that most of his scenes were with Nauman Ijaz.
He says;
Jab aap Nauman Ijaz ke sath kaam karte hain tou apke pas Ghalati ki gunjaish nahi hoti – Since he’s extremely perfect and professional. He’s so perfect, so effortless, that you forget for a moment that you’re acting.
Wahaj Ali
Wahaj tells us that the drama was shot in Lahore (his hometown) & that gave him a core advantage to feel the environment and play the character in the best way possible.
I played Jimmy (Jamshed) – a boy who has faced many challenges and hardships in his life & has still managed to be a good person, revealed Wahaj.
He further highlights that ‘Jimmy is the kind of a guy who’s trying his best to change and help the society.
Wahaj also looks forward to his role and the impact he hopes to create on the overall message going out with Dil Na Umeed Tau Nahi – we can’t wait to see Jimmy on our screens!
The drama is made in collaboration with Kashf Foundation. Dil Na Umeed to Nahi is a narrative-based story that highlights the issue of human trafficking. The drama has been written by Amna Mufti and will be directed by Kashif Nasir of Ranjha Ranjha Kardi

Dil Na Umeed Tau Nahi will be screened on TV One and we’re hoping we get to see it on YouTube as well so the message reaches a mass audience, which is very much the need of the day!
