Tell us what you loved best about the latest Yun Tu Hai Pyar Bohut episode?
As I tuned in to watch this newest HUM TV story unfold, Aima’s Law degree & Zain’s guitaring struggles spilled onto the screen. Not sure what appeals to me about this new drama, but I think it’s the absence of the ‘drama’ in the drama that I’m going for!
Hold on, says my saner self. It will happen. There is the Mohsin & Roohi track to be uncovered. How will Roohi (Nadia Hussain’s character) take in her laadli beti’s obsession with a small time singer – one who struggles to pay the rent?
The kahaani in that part of the YTHPB world has the ability to turn typical Pakistani drama toxic. Lekin kya karen, you can’t have your cake and eat it too. Argues my rational, adult self. In my defense, it’s not the plot that I protest to, it’s the execution of that plot that could be tweaked (in my humble opinion) not to have such a self-obsessed arrogant Roohi as part of the frame.
Make your characters more believable, even if they are negative, and audiences will be nodding their heads (one or two might see themselves in there too)!
However, there is still a LOT going for the story line
Which is why yours truly is writing this review!
The story is picking up & we’re loving Affan sporting the guitar. Except we wish he would sing something other than Twinkle Twinkle. What about a song in Urdu? Just a suggestion!
Sonia’s (Sabeena Syed) meet up with Zain was a well-directed move. It was refreshing to see an out-of-the-box location – no thank you to the cafes and college encounters for a change! We spot a touch of humour there with Sonia promptly agreeing to switch her sleep schedule in order to meet Zain at the school!
The messages
YTPHB is sending out some real messages on rishta aunties, girls taking on professional careers & an artist’s struggle to make it in a society that only respects traditional career choices for men.
These are the struggles that real people deal with in real lives.
It is great to see (and we must not miss Sabaat here) that drama makers and writers are stepping out of the pareshan family haalaat to depict young girls who tare taking on professional careers with ambition, and supporting their families with pride. Again, the challenges of a struggling artist, musician, any young man in the Creative field is being mirrored aptly. Writer Aliya Bukhari has stepped out of our comfort zones and must be applauded for bringing us a story that will definitely touch hearts of many young women across the nation.
Picking Law as a career can be such an inspiration for young girls who aim to take on the world with a career choice that will help keep them independent and a 100% contributor to family incomes as well as the society at large!
Again, the relationship dynamics between Zain and Aima (Hira Mani’s) family is giving off uber-positive feels! The struggles are real – Aima not able to digest a full time musician as a life partner is, after all, the plain old truth. It is interesting to view the power shift here as Aima seeks to better her prospects, and Zain struggles to pay his bills.
A shout out to the cast for bringing us a very promising project – one that is not edged with unnecessary frill, ahem, that some dramas currently online might be sporting? Yet, one that has its finger on the pulse of the youth in our nation.
Great casting there and we hand it to director Kashif Saleem for giving us the best fit as Affan Waheed, Sabeena Syed & Hira Mani pull off a credible onscreen appearance in their respective roles. Javed Sheikh & Nadia Hussain add the spark to a developing story – we have our eyes on this one and so should you!
