It’s Fathers Day & Why I Need To Thank My Mom!
On Mother’s Day, I had posted about my Father. And on Father’s Day, I want to talk about my mother.
Yeah. They often call me confused!
Here’s the thing. I don’t think my father could have been the father he was without my mother by his side. I speak of him often. I think of him everyday. But I have, over time, realized that she is the one who gave him the courage to be his best, to work his best, to live his best and to love his best.
He shone for us because she wanted him to. He could be generous with his time, his company & his love for his family because she let him.
In a society where the matriarch supposedly runs the show from behind the scenes … she graciously handed him the reins.
At times, I would wonder if she was thoroughly dominated by him. But I now know she did it out of love. She loved that he should rule the roost. Her high regard for him even when the stakes were down (and that was often) made him brave enough to play on.
She always made us see him through her eyes. With love, respect, understanding and a whole lot of heart.
To watch the man you married take on Fatherhood, mature & grow into the role along with your children can be a beautifully satisfying experience.
Children don’t come with a handbook, and neither does Fatherhood. You just learn the ropes as they grow. But you can be helped (or hindered) tremendously in your job by your significant other.
Yeah…make ’em or break ’em. That’s the power of a woman 😉

It’s a great feeling to watch your children bond with their dad. I could always catch her expression. The joy she felt when we spent time with him, even when he would give us precedent over her.

For all the wonderful Fathers we celebrate today, look beside you. You probably have a lady in your life who let’s you do the job 100% better!
