Part 1: Eye-shadow Brushes For Small Eyes

QUESTION!

Does your eye-shadow make you look like you have a bruised eye?

Do you find that no matter how often you try that smoky-eye look, it looks anything but smoky?!

ANSWER!

The reason is you are probably not using the right makeup BRUSHES. Oh yes; that perfect brush can bring your eye-shadow game up to a whole new level! Once you figure out which type of brushes are right for you, your eye-shadow application will be dramatically different. Ah ha! Honey, you need to pay attention to this because your world is about to change!

We need to use brushes that are perfect for our eyes, and since we all possess different eye shapes and sizes, I have come up with a guide to help you beauties out! Don’t worry, dears, FUCHSIA is here! Here is a simple 3-brush rule that will help you stay both sane and beautiful! Let’s not overcomplicate things right??

Here we go …

BRUSHES FOR SMALL EYES

For those small sexy eyes, sistas, you will generally need smaller brushes than the rest. Can you imagine drawing your crease with a large brush? You will never achieve the neat and precise crease definition you are looking for!

Small eyes

Here I have numbered my recommended brush types, and the parts of the face you will use the different brushes on.

Brush #1: Pencil Brush by Inglot (80hps) ‘Pony Hair’
This brush is to be used in Position #1, the crease of the eye.

Why Use Brush #1 on Positions #1?
This brush will help define your eye shape by applying a medium-dark eye-shadow in the crease of the eyes. The brush head is firm, making it easier for precision work, and really just keeping the color where it should be: on your crease, and nowhere else!

You can also use this brush to add a little shimmer and sparkle to the inner corners of your eyes. Look at Positions #1 on the diagram.

How to Use Brush #1?
Dip the brush into the eye-shadow. Start from the center of your crease, which is where your eyelid folds; place the brush in the crease and feel for the eye socket; you are going to be applying this in a back-and-forth motion, from left to right. Stick mostly to the natural shape of your eye, and don’t extend any further.

Brush #2: Inglot Eyelid Brush (28PO) ‘Pony Hair’
This brush is to be used on Position #2

Why Use Brush #2 on Position #2?
This brush is the perfect size for your eyelids: neither too big nor too small for your eyes. It is the best size to use to apply eye-shadow on your eyelid. With its medium firm brush made of pony hair, it picks up a good amount of color to deposit onto your eyelid.

How to Use Brush #2?
Dip the brush into the color, and pat – pat – pat onto the entire eyelid, making sure you keep the application as uniform as possible. Don’t be haphazard in your application, with eye-shadow here and there, like I see some women doing. Pat in gentle yet consecutive motion. Apply two layers of the eye-shadow. It really is quite simple, girls, like I said, no need to complicate things!

Brush #2: Inglot Eyelid Brush (28PO) ‘Pony Hair’

Brush #3: Inglot Large Eye-shadow Brush (27P) ‘Pony Hair’
Why Use Brush #3 on Position #3?
This brush is actually very similar to the brush we use for our eyelids but slightly larger and fluffier. This fluffier brush is to be used as a highlight brush. We don’t want to look like drag queens, though, do we? Umm … No! So, we don’t want your highlight too intense.

This brush can double up as a blending brush, too! Soften and blend your crease color after everything has been applied to soften any harsh jagged edges.

Blend – blend – blend, darlings! That is the key to a clean look.

How to Use Brush #3?
Simply dab into the eye-shadow/highlight color, and apply it straight under the arch of your eyebrow first. Then, swipe it from the arch to the end of your brow. Without dipping it back in the colour, swipe it from the inner brow up to the arch again. Re-apply, patting just under the arch to intensify it, and give your eye a lift. Voila! Done!

Brush #3: Inglot Large Eye-shadow Brush (27P) ‘Pony Hair’
