Juggun Kazim seems to have caused quite a stir on Twitter after her recent on-screen game at her Morning Show. The activities in the morning shows are often taken as an offense by the Pakistani audiences as they often defame religious & cultural sensibilities. But, are we sure that it’s just about sensibilities and nothing else?

Juggun Kazim invited some Tiktokers-who are already ruling the critics of Pakistan. Just for fun, (and like any other morning show), she also asked them to play some games, but it got out of hand! When you see the clips, you will notice that things get a tad hurtful to the eyes because of the nature of the game, and … the proximity among the contestants (and we’re not even talking Covid here)!
Why are netizens angry?
On one hand, we are talked about equal human rights, women emancipation and raising our voice against violence – a hard to do activity when we have to fight patriarchy & cobwebbed mindsets – but on the other hand, our media is provoking the very people who are opposed to a modern, free-thinking society by giving them adequate content to complain over, in fact, handing it to them on a platter!
Moreover, it’s not the first time any morning show has been criticized for its unpleasant activities. So, netizens are angry that (& we’re wondering why) morning shows do not come under the banner of any regulatory authority to inspect on air content?

Despite all the criticism (and some funny tweets), we feel the content displayed in the morning shows needs improvement. Creators should be more sensible while creating content because they are affecting people on a national scale. Even though many viewers have shifted to digital media, most people, in fact a large part of the Pakistani awam are still watch morning shows daily, and as a family activity. Hence, it is imperative for content creators to take responsibility for their product, knowing it can influence mindsets.
Morning Shows Are A Very Powerful medium
To conclude, we would like to address channel authorities to focus on the impact rather than TRP of Shows. The message given in the morning shows is often needlessly frivolous and has come under fire on multiple occasions.
Pakistani culture can be both fun and mature at the same time – yes, it is possible.
Care to check out the very valuable work being done by many youth forums and NGOs on social, entertainment and artistic forums that needs to be highlighted. TikTokers also deserve their fair share of spotlight, but perhaps, they need some guidance, direction and guidelines to work around so that they can contribute to, and improve the overall content being aired on our public and private channels. by adding sophistication and mannerism, rather than inane air time that is ahem …seriously injurious to our sensibilites?
