Here is what we thought about the third episode of Ishq e Laa!

Fireworks, confrontation, drama, sentiments, and tears – all in one episode of Ishq e Laa. You name the emotion and you are likely to find it in the third episode of Ishq e Laa, ranging from a mother’s protectiveness to the Azka-Shanaya face off.
There is certainly a lot to say, so without further ado, let’s break down each scene one by one.
Shanaya’s Impeccable Reporting Skills

Shanaya continues to amaze us and this time she did it by exposing a mafia involved in the illegal trafficking of human organs. Sajal vigorously executed the whole scene leaving quite an impact on the viewers. It seems that Shanaya has stepped into the lion’s den this time and it will be hard for her to find a way out. Now, how will the fearless Shanaya find a way out for herself is what we await to see.
Azka’s Reflection On Social Classism
We loved how sensitively Azka described the whole concept of poverty and the prevalent classism in society which makes people feel that being poor is a crime. The whole conversation between the mother and daughter was enriched with words of wisdom and life philosophies that are hard to unfold. Kudos to Qaisra Hayat for writing such beautiful lines.

The conversation was a true reflection of our society. Yet, in the end it sent out a message of hope – that hardwork and dedication can turn the tables around no matter how impossible it might seem. Azka’s expressions were flawless and her teary eyes made us want to cry our hearts out.
The Persistent And Never-Ending Mother’s Love
Ishq e Laa continues to stress the beautiful relationship shared between a mother and daughter. Unfortunately, it is a concept that is scarcely found in other Pakistani dramas. Both Shanaya and Azka have mothers who always have their backs and have valuable advice to share despite their contrasting social backgrounds.
The Characters And Their Religious Beliefs
In Ishq e Laa they have once again brought forward a topic that isn’t talked about enough in our Pakistani dramas. Oh did I say that wrong? Well, we cannot deny that there are ample religious discussions ingrained somewhere in our dramas and there is enough evidence to support it ranging from the countless mazaar scenes to discussion about Shariya (which unfortunately is not presented in the best light). However, Ishq e Laa decided to change the narrative.

Each character is shown to have a different degree of faith and in each episode, we see a healthy amount of discussion involving faith. Khadija played by Seemi Raheel often shares words of wisdom with her daughter whether it is about anger management issues, patience, strengthening of faith, and what our religion teaches about them. Even Shanaya is shown to hold a strong faith which was reiterated again in this episode when she was praying, after her recitation of the Quran in the first episode.
The discussions, or more so, the debates between Shanaya and Azlaan are thought-provoking This time we saw their differences in opinion about the concept of praying in Islam. Their conversations bring forward opinions that are found around us (but aren’t often voiced out in the media) and they encourage us to think which perspective we agree with more and why.
Azlaan And Azka’s Fiery Confrontation
We fall short of words when it comes to talking about the explosive face-off between Azka and Azlaan. Both Yumna and Azan nailed that scene. Yumna’s expression from when she heard the ill-mannered remarks of Azlaan’s friend to the scene where she left the house, were all impeccable and Yumna delivered her best! We are glad to see such female characters who are not afraid to step back and raise a voice for themselves.
She felt threatened, she spoke up. As simple as that!
The narrative that is being built in this drama against harassment is commendable and the message that they are bringing forward, to not shy away when you feel threatened or harassed, is a message that we need to teach our young girls especially those who are exposed to the outside world and have to deal with people from all walks of life.
However…
We do have some concerns, or more like, some questions directed towards the writing. Firstly, why is the whole Azlaan mansion dependent on Sultan and his household for cooking and cleaning. Where are all the other workers? Also, why does Azka have to clean Azlaan’s room, and then why does a young girl like her have to be sent to the poolside to serve him and his friend? Why can’t this job be done by other domestic help and first of all where are they? This whole premise is very weak and any logical argument would highlight that the super-rich family of Azlaan would have an army of helprs around the house.
Shanaya And Azlaan – The Beginning Of A Toxic Relationship

Okay so we don’t deny that Azlaan is protective towards Shanaya and wants the best for her but we cannot look past the way he generally talks to her and how opinionated he is. And how does a girl like Shanaya, not see the red flags displayed by Azlaan and that he only considers her as a friend?
We cannot decide what to say about their entire phone conversation. Was it cute or toxic? Well, it is hard for us to decide. At some point, it feels as if Azlaan cannot stay away from Shanaya and at another instance, he becomes this toxic person who is as stubborn as ever.
Will Azlaan change, and how will he realize his feelings for Shanaya still remains to be seen.
Shanaya And Azka Meet With A Bang!

So, we did not expect that Shanaya and Azka would come face to face so soon, and that too with such an impactful scene! Well, we do have to take into light the fact that when two of the most talented actresses of our country come together on screen then they are bound to bring some magic! Both Sajal and Yumna nailed it with their exceptional performances.
We just hope that Azlaan does not remain a reason for them to come to blows and we get to see more of the powerful duo joining their forces and bringing change! Too far-fetched? Maybe, but we surely can hope!
