6 Months On And Jo Bichar Gaye Leaves Us With A Lump In Our Throat, Teary Eyes & A Sense Of Lingering, Tragic Romance!

Once again, like all episodes, this one also shook us to the core. This episode began with a time-lapse of six months, signaling towards the Separation of Bangladesh which is now more imminent than ever. The story shifted towards a more micro perspective taking us back to the lives of Sonia, Rumi, and Captain Farrukh and the reverberation of war.

Sonia’s need to protect Rumi while she fears for his life, her feelings for Captain Farrukh, Rumi’s transformation from an ideological activist into a leading force behind Mukti Bahini, Captain Farrukh’s quiet resilience in war conditions yet, seeking a sign from Sonia to return his feelings towards her, Shabnam’s spine-chilling loss, Anwar ul Haq’s helpless acceptance of the political climate and tender feelings towards his nephew – all culminated in a single episode!

Watch Jo Bichar Gaye Under 2 Min Episode Review

This episode of Jo Bichar Gaye had excellent dialogues that perfectly delineated the situation, which were penned by Ali Moeen and the screenplay writers, Haissam Hussain and Mehreen Alam.

The episode begins with Rumi after the time-lapse, where he breaks into East Pakistan’s ex Governor’s house and murders him. He continues to stand for his ideology and has shifted his moral compass to where he thinks will benefit his ideas and people. Rumi’s resilience and determination to keep fighting make us fear for his life and appreciate the manner in which real-life, deeply tragic events are woven into a gripping tale.

On the other hand, Captain Farrukh is shown to be as steadfast in his duty to serve the Pakistan army.

“Pehli India se laro, phir un ki banai wi bichoon se laro, phir apni he army se laro (First we have to fight with India, then the scorpions they have trained and then our own men). I don’t know how many battles we are going to fight.”

Captain Farukkh (Talha Chahour) in Jo Bichar Gaye

This dialogue astutely captured the jeopardy that the army found itself in and the many fronts it had to fight.

Seeing Captain Farrukh and Sonia share a screen together after a long time was a much-needed break from all the political tensions of the moment. From the graveyard scene and then back to Dhan Mondi, all the scenes were perfectly executed, leaving us with our hearts in our mouths. A shout out to Nadia Jameel and Sajid Shah for giving us polished performances that spoke from the heart in those scenes specifically!

Mera Maanna Hai Keh Log Bichar Kay Mil Bhi Jaate Hain, Bus Khwaahish Ka Sacha Hona Zaroori Hai… Dil Ko Khush Rakhne Ko Yeh Khayal Acha Hai.

These poignant dialogues between Captain Farrukh & Anwar ul Haq – the battle between hope and inevitable surrender, resonated with many.

As Sonia and Wahaj enter the lion’s den, we await to see what the next episode holds.

Breaking Down The Characters

Each character is beautifully crafted with many added layers to their personalities, each executed brilliantly.

Wahaj as Rumi is shown in a completely different avatar after the time lapse, with his mustache and hair visibly grown in length. His physical attire rightly reflected his inner turmoil – a person dejected and one who has had more than his share of grief, yet is steadfast to carry through his duty and fulfill his ideology. The scene where he refrains from shooting the woman and child reveals how he still holds onto his core goodness, which is why we cannot help but have a soft corner for him.

With your country on the brim of breaking apart, the fear of losing the love of your life and having lost dear friends & colleagues to violence & war, Talha Chahour has hit the nail on its head with his performance.

As for Maya, from the scene where she helps her mother in the graveyard to her interaction with Rumi and Captain Farrukh, Maya mirrored every mood intelligently and with great sensitivity!

Captain Farrukh’s question to Sonia – “Agar Mein Chala Jaata Toh Aapko Koi Farq Parhta? … Mushkil Sawaal Kar Liya Mein Ne?”

And Sonia’s Jawaab – “Baaz Dafa Khaamoshi Mein Behtar Jawaab Hota Hai… Farq Nahi Parhta Toh Call Nahin Kartee”

This exchange of dialogues over the phone beautifully summed up the feelings we (just like Captain Farrukh), were unsure of so far!

Jo Bichar Gaye wo mil bhi jaate hain, agar khwaahish sacchi ho toh, utters Captain Farrukh. Dil ko khush rakhne kay, yeh khayaal acha hai… responds Anwar up Haq. What do you think?
