Sarmad Khoosat’s next directorial venture Kamli is the latest talk of the town these days. Its trailer is captivating, and wonderfully shot and the stories Sarmad Khoosat tells have always been compelling. The cast and crew of Kamli recently hosted a press conference where they revealed special details about their upcoming film. Scroll down to get in on the details.
What Kamli Is All About
Even though the team behind Kamli is fairly young and has first-timers, Sarmad believes the collective spirit and energy of the team precedes its experience. Respecting one’s talent is the key.
Did you know? Kamli has almost 80% on-location sound! Sarmad and the sound recorder Asher emphasized the importance of sound regardless of how beautiful the visuals are.
Saba Qamar revealed that she had limited dialogues in the film however her challenge was to perform with her body language and facial expressions, and she did exactly that. For the shoot, she told us that the team had to travel 1.5 hours to where their cars, etc were parked and then walk 2 hours to get to the location. Talk about commitment!
Adding to that, we were also told that Kamli’s storyline will be relatable for women however, the way it is portrayed and the narrative is different. It is a story of 3 women that every woman will be able to relate to.
Yeh woh issues hain, yeh woh emotions hain jinko hamne kabhi address nahi kiya. Shayad society ke pressure mein aakar ke log kya kahain gay. Har woh aurat jou iss phase se guzar rahi hai, iss emotion se guzar rahi hai aur izhar nahi kar sakti woh iss character se relate kar sakay gi.

Kamli has been written by Fatimah Sattar, which is also her first feature film. It is directed by the much-acclaimed Sarmad Khoosat and produced by Kanwal Khoosat. The cast includes Saba Qamar, Sania Saeed, Nimra Bucha, Adeel Afzal, Omair Rana, and the debutant hero Hamza Khwaja. It is set to release on 3rd June in cinemas across Pakistan.
