Did you enjoy Eid films in the cinema with your family & friends after the pandemic? If yes, let’s get to know what our entertainment experts have to say about them!

FUCHSIA Magazine hosted a panel discussion on Pakistani cinema and our newly released movies. The conversation included 4 lifestyle and entertainment reviewers namely, Maliha Rehman from Dawn, Buraq Shabbir from BBC, Omair Alavi from Voice of America, Kamran Jawaid from Dawn, and Rabia Mughni of FUCHSIA Magazine, who offered their critique of our four Eid films. Let’s hear what they had to say!
Kamran Jawaid Talks About Film Chakkar

Kahani k andar ki dramatic bada reveal nahi hai. Jab ap k pas aise koi bade reveals nahi hote toh the only way you can spin that story around is through the edits. Also, pori film jaldi main shoot hoi hai.
Kamran Jawaid
“Judge Pakistan for what it is right now, it has a small pool to learn, and directors are learning within that, so this is good. Yasir hasn’t attempted this genre before, so we should applaud him for his efforts. Moreover, there are cons as well, like Neelam Munir doesn’t work in a role that is centered on her and drawbacks of Ahmed Hassan’s character overall. However, the film was engaging and keeps you on your toes, as well the actions scenes were shot very well.”
Buraq Shabbir Of BBC On The Movie Dum Mastam

Dum Mastam mujhe at times dragged lagi. Mujhe kahin kahin connection missing laga. Koch cheezein mujh achi lagi, for instance shaadi kyun k main focus nahi tha toh shaadi toh kahin dekhi hi nahi.
Buraq Shabbir
“I loved the romance, how it builds by the male protagonist approaching the girl, and then the girl starts to feel for him eventually. Amar Khan looked very pretty, her wardrobe, makeup, dance moves, and performance were very good. On the other hand, as the movie progressed, I accepted Imran Abbas as the hero in every possible way because his performance was amazing. Sohail Ahmed did a fine job as expected of him to do so.”
Omair Alavi Of Voice Of America Comments On The Film Ghabrana Nahi Hai

Mujhe toh sabse achi Ghabrana Nahi Hai lagi hai. Us ki script mein mujhe maza aya kyun woh jitni fast-paced script thi plus Saba k around pori film ghoom rahi hai.
Omair Alavi
“The most shocking value that was added in the film was of Syed Jibran’s acting as he was phenomenal as Vicky Bhai. Hence, the script, acting and everything was truly entertaining for me. However, I was expecting since the hero is a policemen, there must be action & fight scenes, but there were none. Moreover, the songs were so disappointing because I was expecting Shuja Haider to give something good.”
Rabia Mughni Of FUCHSIA Magazine Gives Her Opinion On The Movie Parde Mein Rehne Do!

But for me the movie was a lost opportunity, in the sense that Nazo aur Shani ka jo characters thai, un mein ziyada material hona chahiye tha. I should’ve been able to connect with them. Mai un ka romance feel krti, un k sath roti, mujhe laga un characters main jaan nahi hai.
Rabia Mughni
“I think it was very brave of the whole team to speak on the subject of male infertility. The production quality was amazing, and the performances were really good as well. But for me the film was a lost opportunity because I couldn’t cry or feel the romance between the main couple, which made their roles dry. Hence, I feel like there was no background of the love story between the couple at the beginning of the movie.”
Maliha Rehman Of Dawn Rated The Four Films!

4th peh Chakkar, 3rd peh Ghabrana Nahi Hai, 2nd peh Parde Mein Rehne Do, and number 1 is Dum Mastam.
Maliha Rehman
“Ghabrana Nahi Hai was too long, it could’ve been shorter by at least 15 minutes in a sensible way. I think Parde Mein Rehne Do, is beautifully done as it gave us a new topic within a new storytelling way in Pakistani cinema. However, Dum Mastam was a full-on entertainer, and I am a big music fan, so I loved the music in it.”
