Do You Experience These Symptoms Before Your Period?
According to Women’s Health, “Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a combination of symptoms that many women get about a week or two before their period. Most women, over 90%, say they get some premenstrual symptoms, such as bloating, headaches, and moodiness.
For some women, these symptoms may be so severe that they miss work or school, but other women are not bothered by milder symptoms. On average, women in their 30s are most likely to have PMS”.
Eating Clean Can Help!
Clean eating is essential for reducing the symptoms of PMS. There are many changes we can make in our diets to improve our health. Some of the recommended changes include:
- Increasing complex carbohydrates and foods that have fiber
- Have plenty of vegetables and fruits
- Avoid processed foods
- Reduce salt
- Lessen meat
- Reduce dairy
- Increase water
- Reduce or avoid sugar
- Reduce or avoid alcohol
- Get some regular exercise, walking is so easy to include daily
This week I’m sharing a salad that is high in fiber and vegetables. I haven’t used much salt. Instead, I used fresh herbs to add flavor.

Chickpea & Walnut Salad
Ingredients:
- 3 cups chickpeas
- 1 red pepper, diced
- 1 yellow pepper, diced
- 2 large tomatoes, diced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 cup chopped fresh herbs
- ½ cup sliced walnuts

The Dressing:
- Juice from 1 small lemon
- 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
- Sea salt (not too much)
- Black pepper to taste
- Green chili (not too much)
- 3 garlic cloves, chopped finely
Toss & Serve!
Mix the dressing in a small bottle and mix well. Then in a large bowl combine all salad ingredients and mix in the dressing. Serves4- 5.
