Agar Mein Aapki Zindagi Mein Achanak Aa Jaoon Tau Kya Hoga?
Asfar mian has thrown a bouncer at Aliya and this time it will be hard to play it in her “Ankahi Batein – Kuch batein samajhdar logon ko khudhi samajh jaani chahiyen” blocking style like she does with Salman. Asfar is direct to the point and also her boss. What do you think she should tell him?
Matchmaking At Work?
It was good to see that Asfar attempted to verify the nature of Salman & Aliya’s relationship before he made his move, but it should be quite clear to Aliya by now that he really does like her. However, Sehrish asking Aliya to look after her dad when she’s away and take Asfar with her was a very direct move at matchmaking and we don’t think she should have placed Aliya in such an uncomfortable position.
We want Aliya to represent a professional, working girl and Sehrish (as a woman) to support that representation. But it seems that she expects Aliya to take over and resolve her brother’s childhood traumas, which is quite unfair and cliched as far as drama narratives go. It was great to see Aliya deflect the request and ask Asfar to move in with his dad, which is a clear indication that she is not interested yet trying to keep things civil between them.
Samiya’s Chirpy Mood
Samiya’s return home and her chirpy mood signifies a spirit that has finally broken free. This time, she has empowered herself to take a decision which is solely hers, not her mom’s or sisters or under any kind of duress. Her source of income has made it easier for her to do so. It is great that she can breathe easy: “Mein pehli baar apni hogayeen hoon” says Samiya with no regrets. It was so important for us as audiences to respect that Samiya had to come to a decision all by herself, in her own time, when she knew she had tried her best.
What did you think of Samiya’s visit to Shagufta’s home? Did she need to be there? We await Saif’s journey with, or without Shagufta.
Tany Fighting For A Cause
Finally, Tanya and her dilemma with Mona’s story. It is relevant that the drama acknowledged the significance of the rights of anonymity of the victim as well as her choice not to take action. Simultaneously, it also made us think how victims will ever receive justice if no one ever speaks out and also that, the criminal will keep committing a crime and grow stronger every time if no one confronts him.
People like Tanya must speak out with responsibility, respecting the identity of the victim, and also the repercussions on their near and dear ones if they were to take such a step. Salman’s support is so very heartwarming.
Endearing Conversations
Shakeel’s conversation with Tanya was an endearing one where he reminded her that she is the voice and source of inspiration for many who draw hope from her courage. Kuch Ankahi leaves us speechless yet again. And finally, Salman and Sofia phoppo put a smile on our face as they continue their marriage banter. Their conversation lights up the episode every time and we’re loving it!
Finally, a note to the creators of Kuch Ankahi
The drama is reaching a fabulously balanced, finely tuned climax – the story is well placed, right on the precipice due to the art of sharp storytelling, skillful execution, editing and characters that have us invested in their journey.
Welcome back Pakistani dramas, if you can do one time, you can do it again!
