Ashwariya Rai Bachan – a name that needs no introduction. Former Miss World & and still believed to be the most beautiful woman in the world is in the headlines but this time not for her films, but for her mention in the Panama Paper leaks.

According to ANI, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) requested the presence of Ashwariya Rai Bachan yesterday in relation to the Panama Papers Leak case. The former Miss World was accused of keeping wealth abroad under the 1999 Foreign Exchange Management Act. Sources told Scroll.in that the actress had stashed her money in a British Virgin Islands-based company.
Before this, Ashwariya had reportedly asked for new dates at least twice. Her father-in-law, Amitabh Bachan was also named in the Panama paper leaks. He, however, denied any involvement in the Panama Leaks & the companies that surfaced in them. According to him, he was following Indian rules when he sent money abroad.
The Federal Agency had previously called upon the Bachan family to justify their foreign remittances since 2004 under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) of the Reserve Bank Of India (ANI).
What Are The Panama Papers?

In 2016, around 11.5 million documents were leaked containing details on the world’s top celebrities and leaders’ money kept (hidden) in offshore companies abroad. The confidential documents were leaked from Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca by the Washington-based International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).
According to ANI, around 300 Indian celebrities were named in the leaks involved in tax fraud including Amitabh Bachan and Ashwariya Rai Bachan.
Ashwariya Rai Questioned For 5 Hours

According to ANI, the actress appeared before ED to record her statement regarding the allegations on her. She was questioned for around 5 hours by the investigators.
