Do you wish you were a Barbie girl in a Barbie world? Life in plastic would sure be fantastic! Oh, how simple and very pink would it be? The rage has taken us on a sweet journey back in time awakening in us the pink obsessed, little girl. We sure wonder, is pink the new black for 2023?
“She’s everything, he’s just Ken,” Who wouldn’t agree after Margot Robbie’s absolutely swoon worthy Barbie looks? The extensive promotional press tour has us even more excited about the live action. Margot Robbie has vivaciously brought Barbie to life through her miniskirts, slip on mules and an overdose of pink! As we await the biggest release of the year, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, we go gaga over the real life barbie looks.
From vintage Versace and Chanel to Moschino and custom-made Herve Leger — Margot’s real-life take on the iconic doll now, will forever be unmatched. Robbie’s celebrity stylist, Andrew Mukamal has curated each of the looks with inspiration taken directly from the original doll. The outfits are incredibly chic and drool worthy, encapsulating all our childhood dreams. She is truly living every girl’s dream but we also have to thank her for truly paying allegiance to Mattel’s “living doll”.

1. Sparkling Pink 1964 Barbie – With A Touch Of A Bow!
Barbie has gone global! At a press conference in Seoul, Margot wore a straight up reference to the “sparkling pink” doll from 1964. She donned a pink skirt suit embellished with crystal studs by Moschino, along with a heart-shaped quilted bag and pillbox hat with a bow.
2. 1959 Vintage Original Barbie
TBVH, we literally squealed seeing this iconic 1959 original Barbie doll reference! While promoting the movie in her home country Australia, Margot wowed us in this striped body con minidress by Herve Leger. With similar black peep toe heels by Manolo Blahnik, retro white shades and a high pony tail. Her stylist Andrew Mukamal has paid a commendable close attention to the details of this original doll!
3. Airport Barbie – Ready To Fly
Margot is staying in character without even a day’s break! She was spotted landing in Sydney wearing a vintage Chanel look – a cropped signature pink tweed jacket layered over a white crop top, paired with beige high waisted pants and classic Chanel slingback heels. She accessorized the look with a Chanel embossed belt, a mini handbag and vintage Barbie sunglasses. What stood out though was her retro pink luggage fit for a real life Barbie! Imagine the attention to detail?!
4. Day To Night Barbie 1985 – Day
Attending the premiere in Seoul, South Korea, she was seen wearing two ensembles that were directly replicated from the 1985 Day to Night Barbie. The “day” look was a custom Versace boasting a pink blazer with white lapels, a pink pencil skirt and pink and white pumps. OFC, getting as accurate as possible she paired the outfit with a pink neck scarf, a white hat with pink details, a pink clutch and wait for the best part…a pink blinged out chunky retro cell phone!
5. Day To Night Barbie 1985 – Night
Margot Robbie served the 2nd look which was the night look at the Seoul Premier. The 1985 “Day to Night” Barbie has a sparkly top with a fluffed up tulle. Her stylist Andrew Mukamal worked with Versace to create a blinding pink crystal bodysuit and a bright pink cascading frothy skirt.
6. Polka Dot Barbie
At an earlier photo-call in Hollywood, her star stylist referenced another original Barbie outfit with a bright pink polka dot mini dress by Valentino, a popping yellow handbag and white heels by Manolo Blahnik.
7. Vintage Versace 1994
Margot had yet another vintage moment but in a 1994 fall/winter Versace look previously only sported by supermodel Christy Turlington in a 90’a advertisement. She chose a pink metallic mini skirt with a pale pink cable knit jumper and bubble gum pink socks.
8. Malibu Barbie
Bottega Veneta’s skirt and crop top were another custom creation made for the Promotional tour. Margot paired the outfit with a pink Bottega Veneta handbag, white sunglasses and powder pink mules by Christian Louboutin. Wait…does she also have her own Barbie car? *cries in pink tears*
9. Barbie Or Cher Horowitz?
Barbie, or Cher Horowitz from Clueless? A crossover we didn’t think we would see! Making sure to maintain her fashion frenzy, Margot broke away from the pink passion in a sunny yellow, Chanel tweed suit – a mini skirt and cropped jacket. The white mule heels and the fluffy white handbag sure fluffed up the entire look!
10. Metallic – Party Ready Barbie
For the celebration party in Sydney, Australia, June 30th – Margot went vintage again. One of the many looks that has left the internet in awe! The actress wore a seriously sparkling vintage, pink metallic Versace couture mini dress from the brand’s fall/winter 1994 collection. The dress featured a corset inspired top and a short skater skirt with a sweetheart neckline.
Fun fact: International supermodel Claudia Schiffer wore the same disco dress in 1994!
