Will the drama present how devastating is a man’s decision to cheat or how a 2nd marriage can affect an entire family? Will Moosa’s extreme reaction make Tauqeer rethink his decision?

Contemplating A Second Marriage
What sets Bismil apart despite its typical and regressive themes is its true-to-life portrayal of a man taking the decision of a 2nd marriage. Tauqeer maintains a happy relationship with his wife and son while choosing to marry Masooma.
Poverty Has Its Challenges
Did the drama just show us that Masooma’s parents are as materialistic as her. And she might be getting it from them. Because as soon as Tauqeer presented the property documents and money to her as guarantee for her future, they agreed to the marriage.
Should we even judge them, as Masooma and Tauqeer had already made up their minds, this was just a last ditch effort on their part to save what they can for their daughter’s future.
While Masooma is extremely materialistic and probably has no values, some of her character’s dialogues make one think. Her entire speech about how lack of money makes you live miserably, how the rich never value what they have, and treat the poor like insects hits hard.
Momal’s mother being concerned about Reham’s reaction with Masooma and then asking her daughter if she would be able to handle Reham seemed quite unreasonable and out of place, as she was part of the whole drama in the first place. She could also have stopped Reham but she didn’t.
Midlife Crisis Or Delulu?
Someone please make Tauqeer and men like him wake up from their delusional state of self pity.
How interesting to see Tauqeer playing the victim now, talking to himself, that if Masooma had not reminded him that the color of his suit pops his eye colour, he wouldn’t have realised it. His self talk about how the worst thing we do is ignore ourselves and how thankful he is that now Masooma showers him with attention was misplaced.
Maybe he needs to remember that with money he can probably buy attention of many…
What about his wife who has been with him through every situation all those years?
While he is crying about not being noticed, how much attention does he pay to his wife? Is Tauqeer’s desire for attention sign of a mid-life crisis where he just cannot deal with the fact that he’s not that young anymore? Will having a younger wife beside him make him feel younger and less sad about the passing years?
Reham’s Struggle Is About To Begin
The drama makes you feel bad for Reham who is making an effort and incorporating Tauqeer’s choice in her outfits. She has no idea how her world is about to come crashing down – the betrayal she never imagined is about to happen to her.
Impact On Children
Moosa and his relationship with his parents is another interesting angle in the drama. He has a close relationship and can talk about anything with his parents, especially his father. The fact that a grown-up man like Moosa might not able to handle his father’s 2nd marriage shows how we underestimate the impact of some decisions on men and grown-up children. He takes his friend’s situation to heart and cannot understand Haris’ father’s decision to marry a 2nd time.
