6 Pakistani Dramas with a different story line, and Saraab is up next on our list!
Pakistan Television has always been a great source of entertainment for television viewers all around the world. We have successfully worked in many different genres within our limited resources and in our signature “Desi Dramatic” style, and we continue to do so.
Nowadays, while dramas like Jalan, Hassad, and Nand are testing our endurance, you must free yourself to explore other genres. Mystery, Thriller, Suspense, with a “Desi Tarka”, is all you need on television these days. Yes, you guessed it right, Yeh Dil Mera, Dushman e Jaan, and our classic crime thriller Andhera Ujala with its sequel Janbaaz can do wonders for the drama-starved soul in you. However the list has much more to its credit, and we’re telling you about 6 more dramas that might have missed your radar!
1. Adhuri Kahani
Adhuri Kahani was a TV One Drama which aired in 2018.
The drama opens on a tragedy and carries an intense mystery in it. The drama has veterans Iffat Omer, Omair Rana, and a new face Dania Enwar in lead roles.
Adhuri Kahani is the story of a woman who raised her younger sister with great love and protection after their parents’s death. After an accident, she slips into a coma and during that time, events transpire swiftly. She now has to not only sort out the confusion, but also struggles to accept the circumstances, and to solve a murder mystery. But who can she trust?
2. Ishq Zahe Naseeb
What if Cinderella was a ‘male lead’ story, who waited for his spouse to relieve him of his past? If you were an IZN viewer, you would be thinking that, why am I even comparing a drama focusing on an intense psychological disorder with a fairy tale? Well, that’s because Ishq Zahe Naseeb, despite following an original story line, held a fairy tale execution with awful direction (unfortunately), and many absurdities. But, but, but, why would I still recommend it? This is because of its completely original concept – This was your male version of Cinderella, with a desi tarka of Suspense, Thrill, and Mystery. Also, it touches briefly upon many important subjects like acid attacks, usury, child abuse, rape, marital relations, dynamics of ‘sautelay’ relationships, and importance of mental health. The drama addresses Multiple Personality Disorder – a rare psychological disorder in which a person splits into multiple personalities.

3. Dil e Bereham
Directed by the great Syed Ali Raza Usama, this is an APlus play. It stars the talented Amar Khan, and the handsome Wahaj Ali. Dil e Bereham is a love story about revenge. It holds much suspense, mystery and thrill, which is all worth your time. The cast includes veterans Samina Ahmed, Irsa Ghazal, and Hina Khwaja Bayat. Do I have to even explain the direction quality you will be treated to when Usama is involved with a project? Just watch the OST by Shuja Haider, and you will fall in love with it immediately.
An amazing script for TV One written by the veteran Syed Muhammed Ahmed, Dhund is a mystery series which revolves around a central character Maria played by Maria Wasti, who is apparently a successful, empowered woman, but lives a dark life. She is in search for her husband and son who have disappeared, leaving no trace. The twist in the story is that Maria has the ability to communicate with dead people…ghosts and spirits. She discovers this as she always communicates with her dead grandfather, played by Muhammed Ahmed. Each episode has a different story of a restless spirit whose story and mystery are disclosed and solved by Maria. The cast includes Hassan Ahmed, Marina Khan, Nimra Bucha, Almas Fidai and many talented actors.
A must-watch if you’re into the secrets of the unknown!

5. Iss Chand Pe Daagh Nahin
An APlus play written by Nooran Makhdoom and directed by Aamir Yousuf. Nooran Makhdoom has recently given Mein Na Jaanoo which was unfortunately a big disappointment, but trust me, this is something you have to watch at least once. It is a mystery thriller with a great Desi Touch. Basically the entire plot revolves around the popular phrase “Maa ki Dua, Jannat ki Hawaa” but the execution is so great with Zarnish Khan, Kamran Jeelani, Kashif Mehmood, Firdous Jamal, and Saba Faysal in lead roles that you’ll be hooked. The story revolves around two different setups. The urban setup is a story of Mahnuma played by Zarnish Khan.
The rural setup revolves around the character of Kamran Jeelani whose 2 previous wives (who were his cousins too), have passed away. Now he believes that he is under a curse and can never live a happily married life. Also featuring, a mysterious character played by Kashif Mehmood. He is a man who lives in the Haveli as a transgender whose hidden purpose is to know about all the happenings in the area so he can continue to avenge his father’s murder. The play has two seasons.
Watch for the mystery-thriller fan in you!
