Rescue Team saves 1 and local Pakhtuns save 7! The successful rescue of a total of 8 individuals in the Cable Car incident. Twitter applauds Real Heroes who swiftly came to the rescue.

Enduring a harrowing 14-hour ordeal, the group of eight individuals – comprised of six children and two adults – found themselves trapped in a cable car perilously suspended above the expanse of Battagram in the north-western region of Pakistan. The intricate rescue operation encompassed the deployment of helicopters and the ingenious utilization of zip lines, ultimately leading to their successful retrieval. However, as night descended, Pakistani authorities faced the necessity to temporarily halt helicopter rescues for the remaining children and adults, indicating the challenging nature of the operation under the cover of darkness. Thus, the local man from the area came to the heroic rescue!
What Exactly Happened?
The cable car known as Dolly by the localities establishes a crucial connection between the village of Jangri and Batangi, the site of the school. This cable car serves as a popular and cost-effective means of traversing the challenging valley terrain, dramatically reducing a two-hour journey by road through mountains to a mere four-minute ride. During what was its fifth trip of the day, the cable suddenly gave way. The incident prompted residents to employ loudspeakers to alert authorities about the emergency. Nevertheless, it took approximately four hours for the initial rescue helicopter to reach the remote area, as reported by local media outlet Dawn. But in the meantime, the rescue team arrived, local civilians saved those who were stuck.
Amid mounting tension, a concerned crowd, which included relatives of the trapped individuals, swiftly assembled along the ravine. They observed as military helicopters battled against powerful winds to lower commandos onto the stranded cable car.
Unfortunately, it proved quite hard to extract all the occupants, (some were saved), of the cable car through the helicopter services alone despite multiple efforts from the military (the helicopter bladed added to the wind element and hence, it was too precarious to risk it to be too close, lest the cable car, teetered on only one cable, couldn’t handle the added breeze), it being a relatively windy day already.
Subsequently, zipline operators from neighbouring villages were contacted to help out in the rescue effort. It being quite dark, the mission took on more challenges, yet, thankfully proved to be successful through a fabulous, heroic and, need we say, dare devil team effort! Source: BBC News
Situated at an elevation of 2000 meters above sea level, Battagram emerges as a rugged mountainous expanse. The region’s settlements are widely dispersed, and the presence of fundamental infrastructure such as roads and basic amenities is notably scarce. In the majority of this terrain, the routine means of travel between mountains entails the utilization of makeshift chairlifts and cable cars. The particular cable car implicated in this incident is thought to be under private operation by local residents, according to reports from local media.
Twitter Highlights Battagram Incident As Mission Impossible
Alhamdulillah. Mission Impossible was made possible by Pashtun without any machinery, helicopter and resources & completed within four hours. Big Salute to them.
Mission impossible Ladies and gentlemen look at his face. He has no plot in any residential area. His children are not automatic choice for any job. He is not eating our whole budget.
“Mission impossible” being carried out by locals whose kids are stranded since 13 hours, they would’ve been rescued by now if whole day wasn’t wasted for PR & gaslighting PTI for 9 may by military, allowing experienced locals to rescue.
