Vitamin supplements are consumed due to nutritional deficiency. Correcting the deficiency would require the use of supplements and the intake of specific foods. As your deficiency is corrected your body will start functioning properly and will start feeling better. When you start feeling better chances are that you would want to eat more and that’s the only way you can gain weight. Supplement intake will not make you gain weight.
Supplements vs Natural Food Nutrients. Which is better?
It depends on the health condition of the person but in general, supplements should only be used as a short-term measure. It can never be the same as the nutrients we get from food. The combination of different nutrients in food makes a difference which we refer to as the “whole food effect.” Supplements won’t have fibre or antioxidants. And to add on, there is a whole range of plant chemicals that we don’t even know about yet, and having supplements would mean that we are missing out on them.
So our advice would be, do take your vitamin supplements if you want to but do not depend on them solely. Focus on eating a nutritious diet as the nutrients our food has cannot be replaced with supplements. Choose wisely!
