From Main Manto Nahin Hoon to Jinn Ki Shaadi Unki Shaad: Dramas are not coming slow and neither are the scenes that hit big onscreen. Here are a few that caught our attention. Read on…

1. Biryani
When Shamsi sahab made Nisa feel especially small, embarassed and ashamed – the one thing Nisa values above all else is her self respect, and that is the one thing that came under scruiny when Shamsi Sahab chose to tell her in the most indeirect yet direct way, to stay away from Meeran. Nisa, despite her inner shock at the conversation, did not come slow and instantly responsed that the family should rein in their son and tell him to control his interaction with the ‘girl in question’ if they don’t approve of the relationship. Well said Nisa!
The moment after, when Nisa laid her haid in her mother’s lap and cried relentlessly was a heartfelt scene and Ramsha Khan delivered a powerful performance throughout.

Baba Saeen and Mamoo sparring over questions that they oth feel passionate about – their heritage. The conversation was layered, sharp and witty. YBQ eloquence and Mammoo’s pain shone through. We hope the next round will have Baba Saeen seeking asnwers and not just delivering them as he needs to look at life from Mammoo’s lens as well – not all green and rosy Baba Saeen, sometime, it is easier to adopt a language when you are not ruled by the people who speak it.
The conversation revealed a softer side to the Sindhi life perspective and we hope the journey continues as does the conversation – from both sides.

2. Main Manto Nahi Hoon
Suraiya’s dance was one for the big screen. Elegant, graceful and oh so vintage. The accompanying song carried a nostalgic air and the moves themselves added to the charm that is Saima Noor. Absolutely nailed it with her energy, spark and a backdrop and frames that did justice to the entire scene.

Khadija’s tortured soul at her son’s funeral was heavy on the yes and heart. Both Babar Ali and Saba Hamid performed with all heart as the tragedy of Hammad’s loss cut deep. A well executed scene where sorrow found a place in every frame – Hammad’s death changed the world for the Bin Yameen tribe and we see it in their eyes.

Hazrat is that hero whom we are finally feeling for. His tragic air, his readiness to faciliate Mehmal at every step and even his patience to wait for her to fall in love, knowing that she might never, is one to watch. Hazrat’s meeting with Mehmal on the rooftop where he visibly tries to deal with his father’s murder pulled at ourt heart strings and also brought out a kinder, softer side to Mehmal, finally!
We hope the couple continues and connects on a deeper level than before.

3. Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi
When Khushi appears once again, as she always does, to take over Ali C’s attention, there is an element of playfulness and quiet charm about the scene. The way she motions Ali’s car to follow them is a cute moment and well executed onscreen, with just the right dose of humour. Of course the surrounding scenery add to the romance.

When Zara places the Taaweez on Changez Chacha in one swift motion, ridding him of Chamki instantly, it was a heart stopping moment and one executed with finesse. We enjoyed the screenplay as Chamki unwilllingly and angrily departed the scene and Zara, jys as swiftly stepped back to share the taaweez with Asad. An action moment that added to the storytelling. Well played there!

4. Sher
Sher reminding us why Badar Zaman and family needed a dose of their own medicine was a masterclass in revenge games. When he told his motehr that they too, pretended to be on ehr side as they proceeded to keep him, Sher locked up in a mental health facility, also administering painful electric shock treatment, one did not need to ask why it was important to avenge the torture and why Ahad’s drug charges, Fahad forced out of the family home and Badar Zaman’s torture was needed.
Sher gave us every reason to root for him and the weay he acts cool before his uncle’s family is the treatement they deserve. Welll played Sher – the end is near and you’re winning this!

And that’s it folks, the drama scenes for the week. Don’t fret if you didn’t see your drama here, we have more coming up next week and we’ll make sure your favourites make it to the top. Keep reading and drop us a comment on which scene we missed!
