Don’t miss the recap from Drama Scenes that impressed us this week and certainly deserve a revisit. Be they comical, intense, emotional, tragic or pure romance, these Pakistani drama scenes deserve a mention before the story moves on.

1. Sharpasand
When Eman refused to accept his present, Hammad got the message loud and clear – this girls means business and also understands how to keep her self respect intact. The scene shouted out multiple messages to young viewers; how young girls must ensure they’re not taken for granted when it comes to a serious relationship, how they shouldn’t be emotionally blackmailed into accepting flowers, gifts, and compliments in exchange for a vague promise of marriage maybe, at some future point in time. The guy who doesn’t come clean, or delays talking to his family needs a reality check, and Eman certainly gave one to Hammad.

2. Case No. 9
This scene re-enacted with Kamran’s version as he related it to Kiran was a deep dive in storytelling – audiences were retold the same story but with completely different feels, who’s the victim and who’s the culprit, everything changed places – from expressions, to outfits and even body language – this was perhaps a first in Pakistani dramas screenpaly and it certainly put a spin on the steretypical flashback we are so used to witnessing in multiple stories.
Well done creators, this one had audiences thinking… were they too, judging the case from Kamran’s lens?

3. Pamaal
When Raza pulled Malika close, it was almost as if the wordld around them melted into insignificance and Malika’s earlier doubts about him seemed to vanish into thin air. Here was a man who would look after her every need, protect her, care for her, and be there for her every step of the way. What more could a woman want? These scenes reminded us how easy it is to forget the earlier red flags demonstrated by Raza, his unhealthy level of control and over protectiveness in a relationship that will ultimately leas to malika feeling suffocated, seems like a secure bond to her at present. And these scenes allowed us to step into their world and feel, for a moment, why women like Malika, are deluded into a sense of comfort and security in a new relationship.

4. Biryani
When mammoo reminds Nisa why he never married Kanwal, how their distinctly different backgrounds made it impossibe for him to choose love, when he told her he thought she was strong enough to weather the storm, and that he did not marry his cousin despite being alone – it was a silent message to Nisa that she will not be able to accept her relationship with Rashid (bhai). But Nisa must live through the repercussions of her actions, and despite mammoo’s warnings, she needs time to understand what we as viewers, and mammoo, know to be inevitable.
It’s only a matter of time Nisa, when you decide to break free from Rashid, and we hope you not only have mammoo’s shoulder to cry on, but also his strength and support to fall back on. You’ll need it.

Nisa and Rashid with Rocket at the restaurant was a visibly uncomfortable scene. It broke one’s heart to see Nisa trying her best to fit in and be part of the moment, yet, her pain and discomfort were evident. The stark contrast between Rashid and Nisa’s orientation became even more obvious as Rocket proceeded to crack tasteless jokes with a sense of humour that felt misplaced and crude. Nisa’s forced smiles say it all!
The scene spoke volumes in bringing home a stark reality – Nisa could never, ever feel at home with this company, yet, this was her future if she decides to stay in the relationship – a disturbing thought indeed, one that Nisa is choosing to ignore at present.

5. Jama Taqseem
When Maria asks dada if she could come visit him, it was a sad moment in Jama Taqseem. A grandfather’s anger could never be directed at his grandchild and regardless of who’s to blame, this scene must have tugged at many heart strings, young and old. The scene deserves full marks on relatability – simple yet effective messaging from the makers of Jama Taqseem.

6. Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi
When Ali aka Chamki proposed to Nadia, it was an entertaining moment. Both Romaisa Khan and Wahaj Ali delivered engaging performances, totally on-point expressions and body language as Ali spun the proposal, aiming to totally bowl over Nadia, and Nadia, flitted between silly, shy, yet ecstatic to hopeful and giddy with happiness, all in one moment.
Well done both for a super entertaining performance.

Khushi tied to the wooden raft, delivering all the expressions, was a high point in scene execution, performance and bringing it all together without missing the finer details. From placing Khushi right in the middle of the pond, to carrying on a conversation with Chamki and the entire depiction of her, tied in chains, unable to move, was a great watch from finish to end.
Well done team JKSUKS, this one deserves applause!
