While your favourite Pakistani drama might have you riveted to the screen, and while some might pack in too many flashbacks or elongated musical soundtracks that stretch the scene, there are others that deliver moments that deserve a lookback. Here’s our take on the scenes that made it to our must-watch list this week!

Let’s start with the Pakistani drama that’s winning audiences every week.
1. Parwarish
Aania’s scenes with the therapist were especially heartfelt and eye opening too. The conversation, Aania’s revelations about her past trauma when her parents had seperated once before, triggering her present fears and the look and feel of the scenes, the setting, the couch, the lighting and a close-up of Aania’s expressions at choice moments really elevated the scene to evoke emotions that made us fully comprehend and empathize with Aania’s trauma.
Well done team Parwarish, this one was handled with great insight and sensitivity.

Aania tells Mahnoor that she will be okay, and she just needs some time to heal from her past trauma.
We know that Aania and Jahangir have a special bond. This is probably the reason Aania feels so insecure when Jahangir leaves as well. But her journey through therapy is so well represented as we see a calmer, more ’emotionally together’ Aania when she tells Mahnoor not to worry, and she will figure out her father, she just needs some time to heal.
The brief scene served to show us the positives of therapy and how healing is possible after trauma. Aania’s calmness resonated strongly and believably in every word she spoke.

When Jahangir asked Sulaiman to fill him in on what transpired, one wondered if he was asking for advice or merely curious to know how Sulaiman had practiced his parenting skills. Were they any different from his? Sulaiman’s words here blew us away as he quietly schooled Jahangir without schooling him, on how reprimanding or punishing a child is not always the way to parent, and how one must make their chidlren realize they have made a mistake, but not turn that mistake into a sin.
Wise words indeed Sulaiman. You win the Pakistani drama dad of the year award, hands down!

2. Sher
A small scene that might go unnoticed but the conversation hit the right notes. When Sameer tells his father that it’s okay for my mother to brainwash me to visit Pakistan because your family does the same with you, when he reminds his father that she (Samra) is alone whereas his dad is still connected to his family, it strikes a chord in Wajahat who is convinced to take his wife to Pakistan now.
A short conversation but well-scripted. The secret is in the details and we appreciate that the Sher team acknowledged that drama viewers appreciate a scene that is relatable even in the brief moments that could have been skimmed over.

3. Goonj
New drama on the block Goonj has us invested from the first episode. This scene where Khalid Anam’s character as the 3 girls single father preps breakfast and fusses about them as they get ready for work nailed the emotions. Everything, from locating the car keys to burning the omelet – the details worked in bringing relatability and a smile to the scene.
Well done team Goonj, the scene worked like magic to show us a dad who’s hands-on and totally present at home!

This scene nailed the subtle harassment that girls often face at work. The male colleague who’s jealous of your success or attributes it to your gender rather than your competence and then tries to sabotage your work by constantly interfering, till you blow up in anger. Both Gohar Rasheed and Komal Meer played it subtle here and the set, execution and pacing of the scene conveyed exactly what Nabeel was trying to do – get under Zarnab’s skin, which he nearly did.
Well played here Team Goonj.

4. Naqsh
The conversations in Naqsh and Humna’s persistence to note what exists beneath the layers and call it out is why we love the scenes. Humna when she makes her sister realize that Humayun might be the one who needs a fertility test was an eye opener for Mariam, who still tried to protect her husband in front of Hamna.
An impactful dialogue exchange on a sensitive topic, delivered subtly.

When Mariam chooses to bring up the topic of fertility testing with Humayun, he plays her ever so subtly and convincingly. Humayun is a smooth operator and Sami Khan nailed the performance here, convincing Mariam firmly yet cleverly, that he cares for her and he had his tests too.
The conversation was relatable as Humayun did not confront her directly yet asked, with a sinister tone, who had come up with the idea, knowing full well Mariam would not think of this on her own. Humayun wins points for winning this one, as he almost always does!

5. Main Manto Nahi Hoon
Sanam saeed as Maria just turned heads as she made her entry in much awaited drama Main Manto Nahi Hoon. The calm, collected aura deserves a lookback and she asked Manto to drink a glass of water and stay calm, just like her. It was the screen presence that got us, and we love to see Sanam back on screen once more!

Follow up with the classroom scene where Maria aka Sanam Saeed addressed Mehmal in a calm yet firm tone, taking her down a peg or two for smoking, asking if she’d plan to study in college and letting her know th eteacher’s chair is not up for grabs! Sanam’s character ticked all the right boxes and wowed audiences in an instant. Glad to have her back and looking forward to more from her in coming episodes.

And that’s all from us folks. The drama scenes that made the lookback this week. Drop us a comment to tell us if we missed some!
