Dunk’s latest episode & the backlash on Minal – but is it fair to blame her?
As I watched the latest episode of Dunk, the build up to the climax was expected, predictable and of course – well played. Expected because countless fans had already told us about Amal’s game plan, predictable because – well, Amal has but one Ace to pull out of a used deck (surprisingly, it works every time).
BUT
We were hoping for one twist in the tale…
Minal to stand by her groom’s side and support him till death do them part…ahem…kinda surprised that didn’t happen? Oh well, before you get our take (you’ll have to scroll down to the bottom for that one), first have a look at the twitter debate!

And now that we have the twitter review, here’s our round up of the episode that was!
Yes, Minal needed to ask Haider to come clean – something she should have demanded BEFORE she married him. Blind trust is never a good thing. Love might be blind, but it shouldn’t be deaf & dumb. Point taken.
However,
it is a tad unfair to expect Minal to trust Haider completely. Just look at the (very heavy) baggage he carries. His silence is not helping his credibility much. We have to understand that Minal does not know what we know. She has no clue that Amal is guilty. On the other hand, Haider should know Amal better than anyone else and should have confided in the one person he made his life partner.
Why didn’t he do it? As Haider’s mom said, he will protect others to the end.
“Mein maa hoon tumhari, jaanti hoon tum kisis se darte nahi ho. …mein ye bhi jaanti hoon tum doosron ki fikar karne mein belos ho”
Only a mother’s heart knows, and this one melted ours. Who is Haider protecting? Amal’s family? His brother Safeer? Or Amal from being embroiled in a police case?
It is obvious he has to make some hard choices now, but is it too late now? Will anyone believe him?
Also, a word of caution for all those reading too much into Minal’s yahaan chhup ke baithe ho – Still waters run deep – let’s wait and see which side she leans on – her silence speaks volumes, and she just might be surveying the damages yet, but needs a clear signal from Haider to proceed (that, in her defense of course)!
All is not what it seems in DUNK!
Is Mrs. Anjum the Ace that writer Mohsin Ali still holds in his hand, to be played at the right time? Who will ultimately come to Haider’s rescue?
While we, the audience want it to be Minal (our thirst for a loyal love story, the strong woman standing by her man) but will the makers quench this thirst in steering the plot towards the ultimate combination – Team Minal-Haider?
We hope so. But for that, Haider will have to come clean with the woman in his life, and Minal will have to believe and trust, blindly … because, after all, isn’t that what a marriage is ultimately about? Till we find out other wise!
