Goonj: For every woman who has been told “ignore it, uski aadat hai” — this drama is for you.

A drama every working woman must watch.
Normalising someone’s habit at work of passing mean comments as jokes and defending them by “uski aadat hai” is NOT okay and needs to stop.
Just because no other female colleague has complained against a guy, doesn’t mean he is not guilty or that the fault lies with the girl raising a complaint now.
Three reasons why Zarnab’s harassment complaint is not being taken seriously:
- Normalising Nabeel’s jokes and remarks about a female colleague’s body, color, and work. (Uski aadat hai, you are overreacting.)
- A female Human Resources personnel dismissing Zarnab’s harassment claims repeatedly, despite being a woman herself.
- The HR representative being friends with Nabeel is another factor compromising her professionalism.
Are any of these happening in your office also?
Mental Health of a female employee:
The office environment and being constantly undermined about her complaints have finally started taking a toll on Zarnab. Her mental health is impacted, and she is experiencing nightmares. She is perpetually stressed, which triggers her, makes her lose her temper, and appear edgy and totally out of control.
Importance of consent:
The difference between Ahmed and Nabeel is about consent. It is with Zarnab’s consent that she chooses to spend time with Ahmed, and with Nabeel, she doesn’t want to. It is nothing but understanding that a woman’s consent matters. Not accepting her “NO” and ridiculing her for it, is harassment.
