One character we all loved in the latest episode of Case No. 9 is Kiran. Today, the actor who brought Kiran to life – Rushna Khan – joins us for an insightful conversation.

This article is an excerpt from the YouTube interview.
How Case No. 9 Came To Rushna Khan?
Rushna Khan said she had told everyone that she wanted to play a character in the drama. Acting wasn’t something she had thought about since childhood, and she never imagined herself in the industry. It was only after coming to Pakistan, especially being married to someone from the media, that she developed an interest and wanted to explore acting when the opportunity came her way.
She shared that she had no family or personal connections in acting and never really thought about it before. When the chance came, she embraced it and immediately connected with the character of Kiran, which she loved because it felt similar to her own personality.
Why Shahzeb Khanzada Worked On This Script?
Rushna Khan explained that Shahzeb Khanzada was drawn to this story because he often writes about women’s issues and has covered sensitive topics, including the experiences of rape survivors. This particular story inspired him, and he dedicated himself fully to the script, working late nights despite dealing with an injury and physiotherapy. His commitment and hard work turned a challenging process into a meaningful and powerful script.
When it came to her part, Rushna read some scenes on her own and some together with Shahzeb. She also gave feedback on certain moments, like questioning Rohit-Kamran’s “bro code” in one scene, which led Shahzaib to adjust it to make it more understandable. She mentioned that her Urdu has improved a lot over time, but Shahzaib still corrected her pronunciation and word usage.
Life On The Set Of Case No. 9
Rushna Khan described the set of Case No. 9 as a fun and lively place, where everyone was giving their 100% and enjoying the process. Even though she was new, the other actors were very welcoming, and she felt included in what she described as a “family” environment. For her, the set felt almost like the birth of the project itself – a place where the story she loved was coming to life right in front of her eyes.
She explained that the cast worked in shifts for different characters, which kept the days organized but full of energy. Rushna felt a strong attachment to both the script and the set, as everything unfolding was Shahzeb Khanzada’s writing, and she wanted everything to be perfect. The experience of working in such a collaborative, supportive environment made the shoot enjoyable and memorable for her.
