From Friendship To Forever: Gohar & Kubra’s Nikkah Story
When asked about who decided to have the nikkah in Makkah, Gohar Rasheed shared that it was a dream both he and Kubra Khan had carried individually long before marriage was on the cards. As old friends, they would talk about life casually, and both had wished that whenever they got married, it would be in Makkah. So when the moment came, it wasn’t a difficult decision – it felt like the most natural thing to do.
Opening up about how their friendship turned into love, Gohar explained that there wasn’t a clear turning point. It wasn’t planned, nor was it something they consciously recognized. With friendships, he said, attraction often exists but goes unnoticed because you value the bond too much to highlight it. But when those feelings surface on their own, they can transform the relationship into something deeper.
For him, that transition from friendship to love and then to marriage was not only unexpected but also incredibly beautiful. He believes when such a journey happens organically, without pressure, it is a blessing from Allah. A foundation built on friendship, he said, brings comfort, ease, and countless perks when it grows into a lifelong bond.
The Funny Twist Behind Case No. 9
When asked how he landed Case No. 9, Gohar Rasheed shared a rather funny story. At first, he actually said no to the project. The initial brief he received was, in his words, so weak that he couldn’t connect with it at all. Despite being told about the cast and setup, nothing about it appealed to him, so he decided to pass. But then, Saba Qamar stepped in – just like she had years ago for Digest Writer, when she convinced him to play Shaukat, a role that became unforgettable. Once again, she asked him to reconsider and urged him to talk to director Wajahat Hussain.
That conversation completely changed his mind. After hearing Wajahat’s vision for the drama, Gohar was so impressed that he agreed on the spot – without even reading the script. For him, it was Wajahat’s clarity and confidence that sealed the deal, and he openly credited both Wajahat and Saba for making him a part of the project.
Talking about the story, Gohar said Case No. 9 is gripping, tightly focused, and avoids unnecessary detours. At its heart, it revolves around a rape case and the search for truth – whether the allegation is real or false. Without spoiling anything, he hinted that the drama will keep audiences questioning and second-guessing at every turn, making it a ride full of suspense and surprises.
When Gohar Rasheed’s Mother Stepped Into Acting
Gohar Rasheed shared how his mother, who had always been fond of performing arts, finally stepped into acting much later in life. After all three of her children were married, she found herself with time on her hands, and it was Gohar who suggested she should give acting a try. At first, she brushed it off, but with gentle encouragement from him – and an added boost of confidence from Kubra Khan – she slowly started to consider it seriously. Eventually, a casual conversation with director Badar Mehmood led to her first casting in Biryani.
Her first day on set was nothing short of adorable. Gohar and Kubra accompanied her like parents dropping a child off at school on their first day. She was nervous, even developing a fever the night before out of sheer anxiety, but the warmth and kindness of her co-actors – Sarwat Gilani, Ramsha Khan, Khushhal Khan, YBQ, and others – made her feel welcome. Soon enough, she began enjoying the process, prepping for her shoots with excitement every night.
For Gohar, watching his mother on screen was both surreal and emotional. It felt strange at first, but ultimately, it was a proud moment to see her pursue something she had always wanted. He admired her courage and passion, saying age should never hold anyone back from trying new things. Seeing his mother step into the world of acting and thrive in it made him respect her even more, and he hopes her journey inspires other women to follow their passions at any age.
