Iran is carrying out another round of attacks against US-associated military bases in the Gulf region amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States, and the US has initiated new airstrikes against Iran’s military facilities, which could be considered one of the largest escalations of the conflict.

The current round of military action has gone beyond Iran’s borders, posing the threat of broader regional conflict involving the US’ allies in the Middle East. Iran claims responsibility for attacks against US interests in neighboring countries, and the US believes that its operations are designed to undermine the military potential of Tehran.
Iran Strikes Gulf Targets
Attacks on US-affiliated sites have been reported by Iranian military personnel in Gulf nations like Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan. Tehran has described the operations as retaliation for American military actions against Iran.
Increased security has been noted in the Gulf nations after the attacks. The air defence system of Kuwait had responded to drone attacks while Bahrain requested the residents to be calm amid the heightened security.
The strikes have increased concerns among US allies that the conflict could spread across the region, particularly given the presence of American military installations throughout the Gulf.
US Launches New Wave of Strikes Inside Iran
The United States has continued its military campaign against Iranian targets, with American forces conducting operations against strategic military locations.
US Central Command said the strikes focused on sites linked to Iran’s command structure, air defence network and coastal surveillance capabilities. Key locations targeted included areas around Bandar Abbas, a major Iranian port city on the Strait of Hormuz.
Washington said the objective was to reduce Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping and military assets operating near the strategic waterway.
Iranian officials reported explosions in several areas, including Tehran, where air defence systems were activated following the attacks. Iranian authorities also said a medical facility treating children with cancer in Ahvaz was evacuated after nearby strikes.
Trump Warns Tehran as Diplomacy Remains Uncertain
US President Donald Trump has warned Iran against continuing military operations and urged Tehran to return to negotiations.
Trump has indicated that Washington could consider further action if Iran refuses diplomatic engagement, including possible measures targeting critical economic infrastructure.
Iran, however, has rejected agreements it believes do not serve its national interests. Iranian officials have maintained that the country’s security and control over its strategic interests, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, remain non-negotiable.
Analysts warn that prolonged fighting could threaten energy supplies, disrupt international shipping and increase pressure on governments seeking to prevent further escalation.
Despite the military exchanges, there have been limited signs of possible diplomatic movement. Trump welcomed Iran’s release of an American detainee as a possible gesture of goodwill, but no major breakthrough in negotiations has been announced.
This is a developing story.
