What a delightful watch this drama is. It is completely winning us on relatability, clear character portraits, attention to detail, sharp direction, intelligent scripting and absolutely standout performances.

Mustafa, The Imperfect Hero
Mustafa is that character who is not perfect or our ideal hero but we are still liking him. The reason being, he never married Sharjeena under any pretence, he actually helped her. He is not being rude to her, he is just being himself, and given how suddenly everything happened, we cannot expect him to change overnight and be completely okay with everything. His behaviour is careless, not badtameez or toxic. Despite not being happy about a lot of things, he still tries to keep up the charade in front of her parents.
Attention To Detail
A big shout out to the director for the attention to detail, which has been used here to communicate certain emotions and situations. When she returns to Mustafa’s room, Sharjeena is hit by the chaos in the room. There is a close-up shot of her feet coming to a stop near his chapals on the carpet, which shows how all the clutter in his room is affecting her senses. The entire bathroom scene with Mustafa refusing to clean it, his clothes and the wet floor in the wash room were so relatable, and entertaining.
Did Sharjeena really cook the food herself? We are impressed…
Toxic Mother In-Law
While the mother in-law is completely toxic, the father in-law maintains a positive approach and good to see this. Though we are not happy with the mother in-law’s toxic behaviour, many of her statements and complaints sound familiar, what you would be seeing or hearing around you, making this character a reflection of what is happening in many real life situations – how she bashes Mustafa and Sharjeena for leaving the plates in the sink, taunting her husband about not giving her money or thinking about her feelings are just a few examples.
Sharjeena’s father shouldn’t have asked Mustafa about his job in front of everyone the very next day after the wedding. They all know how Mustafa is, now pushing him suddenly and pressurising him will not lead to any positive results. Maybe Sharjeena should have asked her father not to bring up the job situation with Mustafa all of a sudden.
Will Mustafa Manage To Bring Out The Lighter Side Of Sharjeena?
It was such cute scene, how he tells her that he left his food for pulao and kebab, then tells her to eat with her hands and not be a “burger”, making us all smile. He then again teases her about being a burger when he takes her out for lunch.
Adeel’s Plans
Adeel didn’t take long to seize the opportunity to establish his position in the office, drawing clear boundaries between himself and the rest. Looks like his plans are not just to marry Rubab and live a comfortable, wealthy lifestyle, he seems to have planned far more.
We are liking how Adeel’s approach and appearance is completely different from Mustafa’s, establishing his new lifestyle and attitude.
While Mustafa seemed unbothered by Adeel and Rubab’s presence in the restaurant, Adeel seemed visibly disturbed and chose to leave. Was it guilt or just avoiding his past?
A Well-Balanced Journey
Sharjeena’s emotional journey after rukhsati was an entire emotion in itself. From keeping up the smiley profile in front of everyone, giving in to anxiety and panic, recollecting herself and then just simply asking for water and food. She went through so many emotions in those few minutes which made us feel for, and respect Sharjeena even more.
