Kabli Pulao keeps teasing us with scenes where we suspect that Haji Mushtaq is just about to declare his nikah to Barbeena but alas, it doesn’t happen, and we move on with the story. And so, the bitter-sweet teasing continues with the audiences.

Barbeena Brings Change
Barbeena jolts Haji from his indifferent attitude towards life and about himself by asking him what he will wear at his niece’s wedding. Kabli Pulao must be appreciated for portraying the growing tenderness in Haji Mushtaq’s heart for Barbeena without making it lustful, which, hands-down, makes the entire story a total winner in our books. When Barbeena asks him about how she looks in the outfit he had bought for her, he replies with a “MashaAllah” that is pure & honest.
A Gradual Falling In Love
We are treated to some beautiful moments as the two draw nearer to each other. When she cries on his shoulder, we wonder what will happen? When Shameem discovers them, we wonder if this will be the moment of confession, but the drama creators merely smile at our eagerness and rapid heartbeats to swiftly move on to the next scene, letting us heave a sigh of relief, but for how long? Somehow, we enjoy this game of “great expectations” instead of feeling disappointed.
What is the relationship between Shameem and Haji Mushtaq? Why is she still waiting for him? We are curious to know more. Kabli Pulao continues to offer us many sweet moments of family gatherings and insights into Barbeena’s lifestyle & culture.
Poignant Moments
It is an interesting aspect of the story how easily and how, without any hesitation Barbeena accepts Haji Mushtaq as the source of her comfort and pillar of support. It was so poignant that she understood why Haji was upset after Ayesha’s wedding, relating his sadness to her own father’s feelings when she was married.
Maybe it will be Ghaffar planning to marry her which will finally get us the confession we so anxiously anticipate. We were weary of his intentions from day one but didn’t think he would put it out so blatantly. And the episode ends with a beautiful wish from Haji Mushtaq, accompanied by a moving background score.
“Mein Chahta hoon, tu meray saath kharee rehay, koi bhi kuch bhi kehay, bus khaloti rehay”. Is Haji Mushtaq going to send Barbeena back with her brother?
