Koi Good News

Are your desi relatives incorrigibly nosy? Do you also face weird and pointless objections from relatives regarding your career and relationship status? Oh well, we have a book that relates to all your problems and will help you see the humor in the very desi scene that you are blessed or (cursed) with?
Introduction

The book “Koi Good News?” is the second book by the author Zarreen Khan. It was published back in 2018 by Harper Collins India. The story is about pregnancy that occurs in the lives of a happily married couple Mona Mathur and Ramit Deol. Throughout their pregnancy, the joyous couple experienced mood swings. Oh no, not the mood swings of the very pergnant Mona but the mood swings of their giant nosy desi families.
“The Hilarious private journal of a highly public pregnancy.”
Good news with desi troubles!
Main Characters
Mona and Ramit are happily married for four years with no children but for their desi families, this is a question mark in their otherwise happily married life. For the first three years of their marriage, they sensibly planned to do the unthought of: that is, to plan not to have a baby & attain financial stability instead. Currently, now in the fourth year of their marriage, they are planning a baby as they have moved into their own house situated in a posh colony. But the stereotypical question by all women in a desi family to every young married woman, “Koi Good News?” plagues their mental, and physical wellbeing – a mandatory in our society, right?
Ramit decides to answer the flood of questions with one of his own – an ingenuine take on the nosy relatives scene!
“I think we’ll have to settle for IVF. Mona is so angry, there is no way she’ll let me come close anytime soon.”

Story behind the Good News!
The story begins with Mona facing taunts and teasing from Ramit’s gigantic Punjabi family on his cousin’s wedding. The pressure starts to build as they move into their own home. The pregnancy finally occurs when our happy couple gets drunk one night and try their luck.
“The fact that Ramit as holding a stick which had my urine on was a little nauseating. Or maybe the nausea is all in my head now that I realize I’m…PREGNANT! OH MY GOD!”
–Mona from Koi Good News?
Luckily, Mona gets pregnant this time! Mona’s nine months of pregnancy include tortured interference and free advice from her mother and mother in law. In short, from conceiving to delivering the baby, Mona’s preganancy diaries are filled with humor and dramas.
Koi Good News – Let’s one rehearse about the drama they’ll be facing while being pregnant in a desi family!

The book “Koi Good News?” is a light take on how our typical desi family and relatives react about pregnancy. From the beginning right up to the end, the book kept making me smiling as I related to one or more of the typical situations that the pregnant couple encountered, which makes it a perfect read to lighten your mood.
The flood of advice, what to do and what not to do is so ever present as family and friends feel the need to relive their pregnancy experiences through your body – really, it’s remarkable they didn’t give birth with you as well – relatable much|?
“She told me how acidity is a good thing. Apparently, the more the acidity, the more hair the baby’s supposed to have. So what, we’re having a…gorilla? Thank God I didn’t say that one out loud.”
Ramit’s thoughts from koi Good News?
The story moves at a balanced pace as events are timed in perfect synchrony. I was unable to put the book down even for a minute. All the characters resonate at some point or other, you can come up with at least one whom you might encounter in your own family. The punchlines really did deliver a punch. Overall, the book will give you a flavour of what you see around you, and with a heavy dose of humor!
