While encouraging conversations, is Kuch Ankahi sabotaging its own cause in some ways? Is it just a misunderstanding between Aliya and Salman which has complicated things so much? What exactly is Samiya teaching young girls?
Samiya’s Dilemma
On the one hand, Samiya’s character seems to be supporting the age-old concept that with sacrifice and patience, you can win over anything and anyone so put up with all the injustices done to you – A concept we definitely don’t want to be advocated. But then Samiya’s strength shines through and she also seems to tell young girls: “If you’re stuck in a compromised situation, don’t give up, work from home or do something constructive, make yourself useful so those who didn’t take you seriously begin to respect you.”
She is also oblivious to what Saif is going through and doesn’t even inquire further when he clearly wants to talk to her. We can’t decide; are we sad at her denial to see the truth, her inability to connect with her husband, or should we be proud of her resilience to go on and persevere?
Asfar Aliya face-Off
Asfar and Aliya’s face-off at the office was fun and brought a smile to our faces, though unrealistic and we definitely wouldn’t want any girl to have such a meltdown at work. But this was all done in good humor.
However, what happened later raises questions. Why did Aliya take a look at the pictures in the tray? Does she have a soft corner for Asfar that made her take back her resignation?
Aliya – Confused Much?
Aliya’s character is confusing at this moment though we understand she will have a journey. Either the drama should clearly state that Aliya is not representing a young girl working hard to earn a living, but on the contrary, she is, in reality, just Sehrish’s representative trying to facilitate the relationship between two siblings. For now, she is setting a (poor) example for any working girl to overstep boundaries and peruse her boss’s personal belongings – definitely not what should be communicated.
The conversation between Aliya and Salman, while on the one hand aptly represents the dynamics of many relationships today, it unnecessarily confuses audiences also. Salman is not doubting her, Salman is fearful and curious, and maybe concerned for her safety. Aliya thinks he doubts her, when she wants to be trusted and wants to have a conversation. She wants him to understand her unspoken feelings and commitment to him. She wouldn’t just sit with anyone for a coffee, she wouldn’t try to explain and have expectations from anyone. But Salman, like most guys, (and girls too), wants it said out loud.
While Aliya’s refusal seems wrong to many, Salman’s pushiness has also irked a large number. An insecure, silently irritated, and possessive person might not be a very attractive option – maybe not totally fair to Salman’s character.
Can Aliya not see Asfar is inclined toward her?
Women can usually tell. So given that, her actions can dangerously lead to Asfar.
This story is impacting many young girls, so extreme care has to be taken with the message being sent out and how.
Why couldn’t Sehrish send the flowers on her own, or bring them in person? While the drama might not have intended it, Aliya as a woman becomes objectified in this situation. Because Asfar is amused, intrigued, and challenged by her, so Sehrish decided to use Aliya.

Jaidaad or no jaidaad, Agha jaan is making clear he is the elder brother. Why is Sofia Phuppo so much against this marriage? We wish this would have been clarified more. Because right now it seems no matter what age a woman is, she cannot take her own decisions. A better conversation between Agha Jaan and Sofia Phuppo is much needed rather than him simply ordering her to tie the knot.
