Kuch Ankahi and our thoughts after the final episode: Abhi Na Jaao Chor Ker, Kay Dil Abhi Bhara Nahin…

With a smile, with hopefully, a slightly changed mindset, with memories of lots of beautiful moments and with a sad heart, we finally bid adieu to Kuch Ankahi.
Final Episode
What a moving final episode, that:
- Didn’t offer up a 2-hour run time in which one hour would cover a recap of the entire drama. The episode efficiently touched upon a few events to make sure we recall the significant points about the issue at hand and then, just slid into the final episode.
- Wrapped up everything beautifully, giving us the satisfaction of watching a complete story.
The Conversation That Never Happened
Salman and Aliya needed a third person to calm their thoughts & put things in perspective. Maybe Aliya more than Salman, needed a friend who could give her the final nudge she needed, and that turned out to be Asfar.
Salman and Aliya stay true to their nature and relationship dynamics. They failed to hold a complete conversation till the end and just came around to Salman putting a ring on Aliya’s finger. For all of us waiting for a conversation between the two, it was a little disappointing, but then the creators made it up by giving us a wedding song in filmy style.
Azfar vs Salman Dynamics
The encounter between Asfar and Salman was hostile yet interesting. They challenged each other, and yet, the high point was Salman’s confidence and Asfar counselling him, despite eyeing him as his opponent.
Phuppo: The Runaway Bride With A Reason
Phuppo running away on the eve of her wedding once again was the cutest moment. Thanvi handles her fears beautifully. From the dialogues & emotions to the cinematography, everything about that scene was just heart winning, Applause for DOP Zaib Rao for managing lighting in the railway station scene to create just the right mood. However, the point about phuppo’s fear of letting another man take her husband’s place, or feeling guilty about remarrying was a very important point and could have been clearly addressed earlier in the drama. Especially through the conversation between Agha Jaan and Sofia phuppo.
Saif & Samia Still Not Sorted?
Saif apologizes and wants to restart with friendship. Samia doesn’t give a clear answer, but the fact that it seemed as if she was waiting for him at the wedding gave us a hint that she needs time but will probably go back to him. What did you think of the entire situation? Should Samia have gone back, or should she have left Saif, after all, he was carrying on with his affair even after his marriage to Samia? Shagufta deserved an apology and a clear answer from Saif who lost points in our book.
Our Advice To Saif
By not calling Shagufta and leaving her waiting to figure out your answer was not really a good thing as you were in a relationship with her. Saif’s confession that it was his fight against his own mother that made him turn to Shagufta – perhaps this reasoning should have been explained better that it was his attempt to wrangle free from his mother’s controlling nature that made him use Shagufta as a shield & perhaps, a weapon as well.
Filmi Feels, But We’re Not Complaining
The song was a refreshing, aesthetically pleasing, and heart-winning wrap up to the entire episode and drama. The best part – it struck the perfect balance of filmi feel, romance, and an intimate family dance. As audiences that have often been offered boring, below par wedding dance scenes, this was such a treat. Giving space to everyone in the dance and bringing in Agha Jaan and Shamo for a moment added more to the festivities.
Thank you Kuch Ankahi!
Monumental thanks to the entire Kuch Ankahi team and Kashf foundation, for giving us an intellectual yet lighthearted script. It was truly a journey where we grew to love many characters, debate on issues and rethink many conversations that we deem okay with reference to gender, love, relationship, inheritance and empowerment.
Finally, the story comes to an end, but tell us, if you really couldn’t let go? Some stories stay with us for a lifetime, and Kuch Ankahi might just be that story too. Habe something to add? Then tell us in comments!
