Aik Hai Nigar might be one of Mahira Khan’s best performances to date. From the outfits, close to the real life pictures, and the acing – one word: ‘Wow!’ Mashion recently shared a Behind The Scenes video and gave us all the scoop and thought and details put in for the making of the telefilm.

So, here’s a detailed breakdown of the BTS
1. The Look – Turning Into Gen Nigar
The 70s/80s fashion was different than today’s – there’s no doubt about that. Makeup artist Babar Zaheer and wardrobe stylist Fizza Ejaz walk us through the preps.
“We had to style her from 70’s to 2019. From her college days, AMC life, she wore solids with polka dots. The color palette was very subtle, no dark colors at all, except one yellow. Even if it’s print on print, it’s very subtle. The post wedding look had bright colors, but only for a little while. Then from 2015 to 2019, she had subtle colors and the solids.”

The crew had pictures of General Nigar which were used as reference. Smallest of the details were given importance. Now that’s dedication!
For the team, the most difficult look to create was the body suit. As this was shot during lockdown, most markets were shut, hence, less supplies, so finding the right fabric and color was tough, according to Fizza Ejaz, but luckily she found the perfect match and sent it to Karachi ASAP to get it made.
2. The Bridal Look

Bridal looks have evolved overtime and is certainly different from that of the 80’s. Matching the look and clothes were another task.
The bridal made for Mahira was made of a silk shirt, banarsi gharara, and a gorgeous gottay ka dupatta. Other than that, there was lots of jewelry involved too, from a mala, tikka, jhumkay (the bridal essentials) with pearls too!

The makeup was a tough one, according to makeup artist, Babar Zaheer.
“We made Mahira an 80s bride, which was very difficult for me to recreate. During that time, golden eyeshadow, eyeliner, red were used. We followed the exact look of General Nigar. We took real footages and used them as references to create the exact look”

And let us tell you, the team aced all looks, from the casual to the bridal!
3. Training – A Once In A Lifetime Experience!

In order to become General Nigar, Mahira took training from army personal themselves! From how to perfectly wear the army beret, to the walk, holding a gun and rifle, Mahira experienced it all!

Even the salute was perfected to the tee. Hard work pays off, right?
4. Hitting The Gym

MK teamed up with fitness trainer, Hydro, for whom it was a challenge to build up a toned body in less time. According to Hydro, they did cardio and weight training so that MK was in shape and “her core was strong enough for the ammunition too!”
“I needed to have a certain body type. I needed to look like I can hold a gun. I’ve gone through all the training and all of that. I decided it’s very important that I make my body perfect and fit for the role“
