A big shout to Mahira Khan for acknowledging, appreciating and being humble as a star, about her fandom. Take a moment to read about how she responded to the stage incident at the Pakistan Literature Festival, demonstrating her embodiment of love, grace, and positivity.

Mahira Khan’s talk with Wajahat Rauf at the Pakistan Literature Festival was disrupted by an object hurled onto the stage. She was momentarily stunned, prompting her to pause her conversation and utter “Yeh ghalat ho gaya”, as she addressed the crowd. Despite the shock, Khan displayed admirable composure as she addressed the incident, expressing disappointment at the lack of respect in such circumstances.
Mahira had been invited as a special guest to the Pakistan Literature Festival in Quetta, where she engaged in a thought-provoking discussion about her career, stardom, and professionalism, marking her first visit to the city.
The incident though unsettling and seriously concerning of our state of affairs as a society, did not deter Khan from resuming her discussion and even voicing support for a film highlighting the rich culture of Balochistan and Quetta. Visibly taken aback amidst her conversation, Mahira Khan commendably continued to act with grace and maintained her composure. It would have been natural for anyone to lose their cool, retaliate, and walk away from the situation instantly, but her poise and grace were truly remarkable.
The Public Reaction
Despite the initial disappointment sparked by last night’s events, the general consensus thankfully seems to be heading in the right direction. People unanimously agree that the behavior directed towards Khan was highly wrong, inappropriate. While there was some debate over Khan’s immediate response – which, in our opinion, requires no debate – some criticized her for what they perceived as acting like a teenager. However, the majority appreciated her grace in handling the situation extremely well, managing the public, and still demonstrating love for her fans.
Last night’s incident at the Pakistan Literature Festival prompts reflection on why such behavior is ingrained in us as Pakistanis? Mahira seems to have an answer – perhaps we need more such events to normalise them in society?
“I Love You Quetta” she said, addressing the largely positive and enthusiastic audience that turned out to catch a glimpse of their favourite superstar!
Mahira Khan Responds To All The Concerns In A Post On Her Instagram
Mahira Is Choosing To Focus On The Positives
If yesterday’s display of grace wasn’t impressive enough, Mahira Khan’s humble and awe-inspiring response to the incident just goes to showcase her immense compassion. Despite experiencing an incident that would understandably upset anyone, especially a star of her stature, she still possesses the patience, grace, and love in her heart not to condemn the location, the individuals involved, or the event itself.
While acknowledging the incident as outrightly uncalled for and unacceptable, Khan chooses to focus on the positives. She emphasizes the overwhelming amount of love she received and advocates for normalizing and emphasizing how these events are needed. According to her, this doesn’t necessitate canceling out the place or its people, but rather providing more opportunities for education, exposure, and dialogue.

“What happened at the event was uncalled for. No one should think it’s ok to throw something on stage, even if it’s a flower wrapped up in a paper plane.
It sets the wrong precedent. It is unacceptable. There are times I get scared, not just for myself, but for others who may be trapped in a mob like situation.
But hear me out – While we were on our way back someone said ‘ after this we won’t have an event here’. I disagreed completely. That is not the solution. Here was a crowd of 10,000 or more… who were showing their love and excitement – the way They know best. Because I could see them I could see they didn’t know how to contain/express their excitement. Whoever the miscreant was, was 1 out of 10,000.
Maybe I should have gotten up and left, maybe the crowd could have been screened, maybe I should not have been put on the spot.. lots of could haves and should haves. What I do feel strongly about is that – we NEED more events such as these in More cities of Pakistan. The more you are exposed the more you are aware and educated. Normalize it. And see what happens.
People, cities, our culture, our understanding of each other ( which lacks), unity ( which lacks even more).. it will all flourish! I met the most amazing people. We sat together under the beautiful Quetta sky, ate delicious food.. while we shared stories, laughed and made plans for my next visit. I come back enriched. I love you Quetta. Thank you for the insane amount of love. ????????
There shall and will be a next time.. and on every end we will be better. InshAllah. Until then..
Khuda Hafiz Quetta ????♥️
P.S Do you know the roses here are magnificent? What’s strange is that it feels like they grow out of concrete. 🙂 P.PS Been getting a lot of msgs. Thank you for the concern and love my way. Makes me feel super grateful. ????”
She proves time and again why we so proudly say, “Humare paas Mahira hai.”
