Coming from a family of doctors, bureaucrats, lawyers and military professionals, I was never, not even once questioned about my passion and dreams. The minute I said that being “practical” and studying law is not for me, my whole family jumped with excitement and relief. Excitement, because at the age of 19 I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life, and relieved because they are all so tired of the same monotonous jobs the society wants all of us to have; doctor, engineer, and then wife.
So at the age of 19, I packed my bags and went to Hollywood with a heart full of dreams, my eyes full of sparkle, and my mind full of ambition.
Hermaine is now THE ONLY CERTIFIED AIRBRUSH MAKEUP PRO in Islamabad! She studied in L.A. in 2012 and 2013 and attended L.A. Makeup Academy & Form Academy where she gained hands-on experience with a celebrity makeup and hair stylist in Hollywood. She is also a proud Mac Pro Member since 2012.

HERMAINE’S TOP 5 “DO NOT EVEN TRYS”
1. No Primer: I don’t like to put a barrier between my skin and makeup!
2. Never use the same colour for Brows: I love to create a subtle Ombre for my eyebrows, I use Anastasia Brow Wiz in medium brown to fill in outer corners and then switch to light brown as I move in! Its softer and sweeter looking when the eyebrows aren’t so heavy at the inner corners.
3. Never do a single eyeliner coat: Always coat your eyeliner at least 3-4 times. First, MAC eye kohl deep into the base of the lashes, coating with Mac liquid liner, lifting it up lightly at the outer corners slightly, and finishing with Kat Von D Tattoo Liner.
4. Do not walk out without a concealer!
5. Do not go too light with your foundation tone.

Eyelash Extension or False Eyelashes?
Natural eyelashes, please! I love how naturally curled eyelashes look! Hold the mascara brush at the base of the lashes for a few seconds and slowly move it around. A thick eyelash base gives you dramatic intensity.
Contouring or Botox/fillers?
At the moment contouring is working, but if Botox works for you, good for you!
Made up or Natural?
I feel sexier when I’m made-up. Not a lot of makeup, but concealer and mascara make me feel like I’m on top of the world.
Eyebrows or Lipstick?
Eyebrows – you can’t walk out without filling them in
Matte or Glossy?
Matte Lips. Glossy Face.
Glitter or Subtle?
Generally subtle, but New Year’s and Birthdays – A girl’s gotta shine!
Baking under eye or baking everywhere?
Under eye only – You don’t want to look like a cake. Ever!
Highlighting?
Highlighters are tricky. I have seen brides and girls covered in it, and it feels like staring directly into the sun. It’s painful and blinding! Let your whole look shine by applying the highlighter in measured proportions and amount.
Brushes or Sponges?
BOTH are very important! Sponges for face- brushes for enhancing the features!

That is false! And even though I have been a victim of that myself in the past, I do not do that anymore. Over time, I have learnt that being comfortable in your own skin is the key to looking good and feeling good. For me, my signature style is confidence and comfort!”

My wedding day outfit was by Republic and my reception outfit was by Suffuse. My favourites have to be Sabyasachi for my Nikaah and Nomi Ansari for my Mehndi. They made me feel like a princess. And when I got a message from the super sweet Nomi Ansari himself, and when he posted pictures of me on his Instagram feed and his website, I felt like a Queen!
