The world of Nauroz is refreshing, interesting and to some extent, emotionally heavy. A story told many times is executed in a new and refreshing manner. Rishtina’s journey is scary yet balances the black and white sides of society. We find hope somehow, amidst the worst crisis.
The Plight Of A Lone Woman
A lone woman in this society is helpless, and at the mercy of vultures. Nauroz makes us question the fate of all those women who are left alone due to some unfortunate event in life and have nowhere to go. It also highlights the lack of systems, forces and institutions that must be in place to provide guidance or some solution to such women.
Better Execution?
The rape attempt at Rishtina in the hotel needed better execution and made us wonder what went wrong in the edit, since, up until now, Nauroz has taken care of the smallest details with sharply executed scenes. While the heart wants to scream out with fear and desperation for Rishtina to not leave her bag and mobile in the hotel, we understand her limited exposure and that her fear made her runaway.
Some Hope?
Nauroz manages to uplift with a positive twist just when it starts getting emotionally heavy. Like Rishtina meeting that old woman who offers her nourishment just when her runaway ordeal to seek shelter begins to turn too sad or hopeless.
Superb Performance
Mawra Hocane is doing an amazing job at portraying Rishtina. The way she tried to cross the road, how the traffic terrified her, how she felt lost and sat at the gate, how she was trying to keep her eyes open – all this makes us a fan of her craft. The nuances in her performance and character portrayal add so much more depth and reality to her torment and serve to totally absorb one in her story.
