Saira contemplated on the name for the drama and revealed that initally, it was never planned to be named Mere Humsafar:
The name was never Mere Humsafar. I had kept a dozen names: Mere Paas raho, Karputli, Ek This Hala, Mere Humdum …
She never dreamed that Suno Chanda’s Arsal could do Hamza, but you know what, it all fell into place when she saw Hamza walking in at Hala’s wedding!
Who did she dream was her ideal Hala? The girl behind the words she put on paper, the character that roamed her mind. Who could do Hala the way Hala was meant to be performed? Saira Riaz surprised us as she mentioned that it was always Hania Aamir for her!
When I was writing Hala’s character, I visualized Hania Aamir’s face on the paper all of a sudden! And I thought, she must do it. But when I finished writing, I thought, how will I get Hania Aamir?
And we all know the story after, as Hania draws love and audience sympathy for her role as Hala in Mere Humsafar!
