Alpine skier, Muhammad Karim is all set to represent Pakistan in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. This will be his third time competing in alpine skiing at Winter Olympic Games. Karim made his Olympic debut at Sochi in 2014 and then went on to compete for a second time in Pyeongchang in 2018. Speaking to CRI Urdu, he revealed that he is ecstatic to put Pakistan on the international sports map.

He is the only skier from Pakistan competing in the Winter Olympics this year along with four officials. Karim is all set to conquer the slopes on February 16th at the China National Alpine Skiing Center, Yanging District, Beijing.
For the last three years, I have been preparing for these Olympics and my biggest dream is to participate in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and give historical performance.

Interestingly, Karim’s nephew Syed Human is a cross-country skier who accompanied his uncle in the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang in 2018.

Winter Olympics kicked off today in Beijing. It is scheduled to continue till February 20th. Beijing is the first country to host both the Summer and Winter Games. The events will take place in Beijing, Yanqing, and Zhangjiakou (Al Jazeerah).
According to Al Jazeerah, this time, international fans are prohibited from attending the Winter Games due to the Covid19 situation. Whereas, those expected to attend are advised to follow strict SOPs. It further reported that athletes, media personnel, officials, coaches, and federal delegations make up around 60,000 people who are attending the Winter Games.
Muhammad Karim has done the nation proud. Hailing from a place where resources were limited, he surely has defied all odds to reach where he is today. We wish him all the very best and hope to see more of him, skiing away!
